Alpine CHA-1214 12-Disc CD Changer Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jan 28, 2010

My original problem WAS that the magazine wouldn't eject which i'm told is due to a weak or dirty belt or gearing. I have a temporary solutuion for this (which is to undo the top of the frame INSIDE the casing - this releases the magazine). There is another problem though, which is that when the magazine is inserted, nothing happens. The head unit reads "error-1" or sometimes "no magazine" but the changer makes a noise as if it's trying to do something. The head is a cda-9815rb (which i'm sure is in perfect working order) and the changer is a cha-1214. Both Alpine. Cheers. Kieran. My number is 07999 370 473. To clarify, I have already removed the outer casing and I have unscrewed the top of the inner frame. Lifting this part up when unscrewed releases the magazine but also causes the little metal stick at the back to pop out of position so I have to re-fit it and re-attatch the spring (but that's by-the-by). Anyway, when I re-insert the magazine, it still will not eject, so I have to do it again if I want to eject it. I can live with this issue as I want to leave the 12 discs in it permanently. The problem I have is that I can't play any of these 12 discs as the changer will not load the discs in to the player (since it does not recognise the magazine). I hear the motors making noise as it tries to do something but nothing appears to move. I hope that's clear. Last time I posted this problem it seemed to become confused to the expert who responded, so I've added further explanation this time. He dis however advise the following (which I wasn't 100% sure what he meant): Open top cover, if the empty magazine was left inside the cd trays it can slide out into the playing area and jam the unit, check it like that anyhow. Sometimes you can see a small metal tab to release the magazine. However Error1 means Battery inside CD Changer needs to be replaced. And NO CD.CD error message means No CD in magazine or no magazine in CD Changer. To fix the problem, disconnect the CD changer. take off the top plastic slide cover, with a small screwdriver slowly move the gearing so that the CD disc holder will move back to the load - unload position. Pop out the CD holder. Replace unit, reconnect the optic and power lead, switch on radio and the unit will work again. grease the moving parts with light lubricant.

Missed the point AGAIN! I don't care about the ejecting issue, I want to know how to get it to play the CDs, i.e. recognise the magazine. The changer is not aware that the magazine has been inserted, therefore it cannot play the discs. I don't care if it won't eject - I'm happy to leave the magazine in permanently. I just want it to play the discs that are in the magazine. Why is it not picking up that the magazine has been inserted?

  • Anonymous Jan 29, 2010

That explains why it's not loading the discs, but it doesn't even regognise that the magazine is inserted. Is there some kind of sensor or switch that should be activated that isn't functioning properly? I'd understand if it was saying "disc load error" or something like that, but it says "no magazine" so it doesn't even try to load the disc because it thinks nothing's been inserted.

There are small drive belts that provide the power to operate the different parts to eject the CD magazine, i suggest you remove the covers and check these belts for slack/strech, it is a common reason for this problem

Sony CDP-CX400 Mega Storage CD player having issues ejecting disk. Can Load Error be cause by worn and "out of tension" belts? Table turns a bit slow and when I hit disk eject

Either a loose loading belt, or a weak loading motor can cause this fault. Check it. A weak loading motor can cause more faults. If the pulling power of this motor is low, the fault will occur. Replace this motor and the loading belt first. Check whether there is any gear wheels having broken teeth.

Sylvania lc320ssx. Tv works fine but whenever I insert a dvd it automatically ejects it

Disc loader mechanism fault. Check its loading belt and related gear wheels. You have to take out the mechanism to repair it. If loading belt is loose or the loader motor is weak, this kind of fault can occur due to improper loading of the disc. If it hasn't been loaded properly, the same will be ejected. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" or "Magazine" will make surf easy. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. Do a search by type in the brand name of your device at its search box and press "Enter".

Error 01 the magazine does not eject

A lot of times there is a gear inside of the changer that gets jammed. If you can, remove the top cover of the changer. On the changer mechanism (it will be on the right side of the changer) there will be a large gear (probably black) with an arm attached to it. Use a flat blade screw driver or something like that and turn the gear counterclockwise until the tray is back in magazine. You should then be able to put the changer back together and it will probably work fine.

Hi jag xjs 1993 cd cassette wont eject as no 6 stuck in any hints on how to eject the casestte?

you would have to take the to off of the changer. If you can do that, on top of the cd mechanism is a large gear which slides the trays in and out of the magazine, If you can, move the gear so the tray slides back into the magazine. The changer will probably work once that gear is freed.

Vhs tape ejects when pressing record

1. Rejected tapes on a VHS recorder is due to a dry belt that is the transfer belt on ejection tray is worn and needs replacement.
2. Because VHS recorder are now not so prevalent and there are so few repair shops specializing in there repair due to parts acquirement it may be best to get a new recorder.
3. Addressing the belts. The belts usually grips a pulley which in turn turns a gear that moves the ejection tray forwards/backwards when given a certain signal on from the control board. This could also be a worn gear from constant use of the load/ reloading of VHS tapes.
I hope this helps.

Jammed CD & Magazine in an Alpine CHA-S634

Mine jammed after I dropped it, trying to swap it into a new car :-)
Same problem, however. Three of the six CD trays had wandered into the righthand mechanism (which selects and plays one cd at a time). Nothing else at all, most fortunately, was broken.
I removed the cover (3 screws on each side), and the small black faceplate that holds the eject button. The main faceplate came off too, needless to say; no screws, just tabs.
You have to remove the side brackets also, and the angle-adjust spring loaded pins on both sides need to be slid out. Then the body of the cd changer rotates out of its cover.
Now, you can see down into the mechanism. A CD was still stuck in the reader, along with several shifted trays. I could simply remove the CD, and with a small screwdriver, shifted the trays back over so that I could then successfully eject it. I removed and realigned the trays, which had been jammed, and it worked once more! Reassembled and reinstalled ;-)
