I recently purchased a JVC MG630AU hard disk video camera. I have read through the manual several times but cannot find the answer. How do I upload my videos to my computer? There are buttons to upload directly to YouTube, one to upload to an IPod, and one to upload directly to a DVD. I just want to upload my videos and still images my computer.
Hi,
To transfer your video to your pc please do the following:
1. Make sure that you have installed the software that came with your camera. If not insert the supplied cd in your dvd drive. When the dialog box appears select Easy Installation and follow the instructions.
2. Close your camera's LCD monitor.
3. Connect the usb connector to the camera and the pc.
4. Open the LCD monitor and from the menu select Backup.
5. Click all volume and click Next and then Start.

Hook your cam up to your pc and open Windows movie maker then you will see import video. Click on that and a drop down list should pop up choose your video cam and your off to the races. Any videos you upoad off your vid cam will go into "my video" folder in your documents.

I'd recommend that you take a look at this camcorder data recovery guide that helped me last time: Recover deleted videos from camcorder the guide successfully get back deleted videos from JVC camcorder, hope that it helps you too.
Did it come with a browser for uploading from your camcorder? My JVC did and I used that to burn to disc then to my computer. Then I copied/pasted to sd card/usb
Well, I was looking for the name of the software.
I don't think you need to reinstall the software, but you need to read the documentation that came with the software.

There is a better solution to your problem:
Buy a card reader that can read your type of camera memory card.
Just plug it into your computer's USB port and Windows XP will see the card reader as being another hard drive. Remove the card from your camera, plug it into the reader. Use Windows Explorer to move the photos and video to your computer.
You never have to connect the camera to your computer again.
