The Epson printer won't recognize ink cartridge when you have dried or empty ink, outdated printer drivers, ink cartridge not installed properly and more. Follow the troubleshooting steps to fix Epson printer not recognize ink cartridge:
·Check your printer ink cartridge ·Remove and reinstall ink cartridge ·Clean the printer cartridge chip
Epson Printers are sensitive in terms of Ink Cartridges.. The latest Epson Printers does not have ink reseter.. Ink reseter are already built-in on the ink cartridges.. The problem on this printer is when you have a cartridge on your printer, let say, 30% of the ink level, even though your ink is new, and you change it without using the right ink replacement method, it will recognize your ink as a 30% ink level. When your ink level drops to 0%, but you have remaining 70% of the ink, it does not recognize it anymore. The chip on the ink cartridge is already registered as an empty cartridge.
Did you use Epson Genuine Cartridges? Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Cartridges. !!!!!!!! That sounds like your problem. In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother MFC-240C All-In-One InkJet Printer. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc. These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.
I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.
That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.
So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......
I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. . IF YOU ARE USING GENERIC CARTRIDGES, MAYBE IT WOULD BE BETTER IF YOU DISABLE THE INK MONITOR. This is the only advice I can give you. The next step would be to disassemble the Epson, and clean the Pads/Heads. This is a nasty trick that many printer manufacturers pull on you. The printer may require all of the cartridges to have ink in them, even if you are only printing in B&W. As time has gone on, the cartridges have gotten smaller and smaller, and they've added these kinds of software and hardware restrictions to ensure you keep buying their pricey ink (which is where they really make their money, and why they can afford to sell the printers themselves fairly cheap).
Take this link to Epson website and click on "start here", the third pdf choice, which contains quick setup guide and instructions on installing cartridges.
Check status monitor? Is the black ink recognized? Do replacement procedure on How to... Unplug the unrecognized ink tank, then plug again. If all ink tank not reach zero level ink, it must be resolved.
