To make Outlook Express Your Default Windows Email Program :
1.Make sure Outlook Express is not running.
2.Select Run... from the Start menu.
3.Type "msimn /reg" (excluding the quotation marks).
4.Hit Enter.Wait for, say, ten seconds for the process to finish. Nothing will appear on screen. Do not let that disturb you.
5.Launch Outlook Express.
6.Select Tools ' Options... from the menu.
7.Go to the General tab.
8.Click Make Default under Default Messaging Programs.Click OK

Please check your outgoing server's settings in Outlook:
It should be "smtp.mail.yahoo.com"
Check the box "the server requires authentication"
Under "Outgoing mail Server (SMTP)", check the box next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL). Enter port number "465" in the "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" field.

You need to configur your microsoft outlook or windows mail or outlook express in such a way that you recive mails from both the account to one inbox. Follow the below steps if you have ms outlook.

Yahoo! Mail users can read their email in Outlook Express by subscribing to the Yahoo! Mail Plus service. This service allows you to use Outlook Express or another POP3 client to access and manage your Yahoo! Mail messages.

Outlook Express allows you to add a new email account to your existing profile. This means you do not have to replace your current settings in order to send and receive Yahoo! Mail messages. Here's how:

1. From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
2. Select the "Mail" tab.
3. Click the "Add" button.
4. From the Add menu, click "Mail."
5. In the text box labeled Display Name, type your name and click "Next."
6. In the Email Address box, type your Yahoo! Mail address (be sure to include "@yahoo.com") and click "Next."
7. Under "My incoming mail server is a..." select "POP3."
8. Type "pop.mail.yahoo.com" in the Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) Server box.
9. Type "smtp.mail.yahoo.com" in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server box.

5. In the Delivery section at the bottom of the window, check "Leave a copy of messages on server" if you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages on the Yahoo! If your ISP blocks port 25 or if you're unable to send email, then you will need to use port 587 when sending via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. To make this change, please follow the directions below:

1. From the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts"
2. Select your Yahoo! POP account and click on the "Properties" button
3. Click on the "Advanced" tab
4. Next to "Outgoing server (SMTP), change port 25 to 587

Each ISP has a little different setup. Either search their web sites or call them for help. It is generally no charge.

In the Outlook Express folder delete Old.dbx change the file name from Old.bak to Old.dbx

The incoming and outgoing servers depend upon the internet mail hosts... such as pop.mail.yahoo.com/smtp.mail.yahoo.com etc. so whom ever you using the mail account to receive/send the mail through outlook,mean who ever the host for your internet mail service, you will need to use his POP3/IMAP/HTTP server to receive the mail. thats all ....thanks for using Fixya

You may have to authenticate in outlook express by putting in the SMTP server name of your internet provider instead of yahoo
for example
Incoming = smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing = smtp.yourISPservername
Some isp's will not let you send out with a different smtp server than theirs.
It's why you can receive but not send.
