I am unable to find a manual for the Vivitar DVR 850W underwater camera for downloading. Your help please.

Yes. The 850W charges the battery via the USB port. You can charge it by connecting it either to a powered USB port on a computer or a wall outlet by using the supplied adapter (or equivalent).

1. Go to:
http://www.retrevo.com/support/Vivitar-DVR-850W-Camcorders-manual/id/23444bh039/t/2/
(Be careful to copy ALL of the URL address).
2. Download the user manual to your PC.
3. Usually the folder with the new PDF file opens autimatically, when the down load is colplete.
4. Double click on the new PDF file.
5. Read the "Gettrin Started" chapter.

How to charge a vivitar dvr 850w flash media camcorder?
Connect the camera to either a powered USB port on a computer or a wall outlet using the supplied charger. The connector is inside the cover on the back of the handgrip. Be aware that not all computer USB ports put out enough current to charge batteries.

The flash only works for still photos, not for videos.

Just boight my vivtar 850w underwater video camera 2 wks ago . now it shows a CAPITAL F on screen in shape of SD card ? why ? not working ? who do i send this back to ?
I don't know this camera but it could be for 'full' or 'fail' so suggest you try a different memory card, or format from the menu to see if it helps. If not then you could contact the seller to ask for a refund or replacement

Vivitar DVR 850W: The battery is charged but indicator shows it's low and I cannot use the flash. The red led for charging the battery does go off when charged. But indicator says otherwise.
I also have the same problem with my Vivitar DVR 850W camcorder. So, I did research on the subject. I found out, that the battery that is in the camera is the wrong type. The battery is a 3.7V 860 mAh, which is made for a cellphone and doesn't hold a long charge. I found out that the battery is SUPPOSED to be a 3.7v 1000mAh. Quite a difference.
