My Dyson CDC14 Animal just started making a wierd sound coming from the rotating brush area. I already cleaned around the brush, sounds like a fast rattling sound.

Hello,

Something could be jammed, or not rotating freely, maybe an improper alignment with the brushes, or a blocakage within them. Try to re adjust the brushes :)

Dyson not picking up dirt through the soleplate, all parts cleaned and suction is good everywhere, even the small clear hose attached to the bottom (and the brush rotates great and strongly and I can feel...

The clutch may be the problem. The belts are in the clutch and they lose elasticity and don't turn the brush fast enough when on the carpet. When the clutch is working properly you will hear a loud ratcheting sound when something is restricting the brush roll to stop it from turning. If you don't hear the ratcheting noise when the brushroll is restricted it means the belts are slipping.

Check the belt to see if a layer or piece of it has come loose and is flappping around.
Check for any loose parts that could be getting hit by the brush or other moving parts.
Make sure the brush it tightly in place and can not move.

How do you get the beater brush to start rotating, the dyson was just cleaned and the beater brush won't rotate

Sounds like the rubber drive band has not been replaced properly to drive the brush and/or the brush was not properly cleaned. You can find the manual here:

I believe the clutch on my dyson "animal" is stuck. It makes this horrible noise when you try to lower the brush roll to vacuum.

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

Your machine is designed to make this ratchet noise if the brush bar is obstructed. We would recommend checking the brush bar and soleplate area and removing any blockages or hairs/threads that are wrapped around the brush bar.

Full details on these checks can be found in our Support section online at www.dyson.com.

Kind regards

I cleaned the roller on my Dyson DC 07, and after reassembly, it makes a sound like the belt is being chewed. I took it apart a couple times, goes back together fine, but still makes the noise

Older Dyson 07 Animal, loud ratcheting noise on carpet setting

That is an indication that the belts are worn, stretched or broken. You simply need to replace the belt. Here is a link to the belt(s) you need and a manual you can view:

The rattly sound means the drive belt has snapped or the protective clutch has slipped. This needs repair by someone who knows how to repair Dysons officially. Sadly its the kind of model that can't be done by the owner.

The brush bar on my Dyson DC17 stopped turning.

If this model has a brush control - i.e a roller at the side of the model which controls brush to spin or not, then its a protected brush model - therefore even if the drive belt is intact the Dyson would have to be repaired by a service personnel or professional. The brush protection isn't able to be taken apart and sounds like it may well have slipped off due to tension.

Suction loss on dyson animal

Hi.

Keep the axe on hold try this first.

Ok first thing to do is remove & clean the 2 piece premotor filter or purchase new.

Now remove soleplate from bottom of machine to do this rotate the 3 plastic screws to unlock position. Lift sole plate off now remove any blockagers or fluff that may be built up over the brush roller.
Remove hair from brush roll using scissors.

Check short clear hose for blockages & any damage rips or tares if it is damaged purchase new hose.

Now look at belts & rotate brush roller it should turn relatively easy if it is difficult to turn by hand remove the brush roller & pull off the end caps the axle will come out with one of the caps.
Check the roller bearings clean away dust build up replace end caps & axle spin roller holding on to end cap if freely to spin refit back on to machine.

If its stiff to rotate you will need new roller.

Now pull off the 2 inspection ports check them for bits of paper etc especialy the (U) shaped port at bottom rear of machine this can contain pens pencills stones all sorts of items that hinder the suction.

Now check the long flexi hose & metal wand for any obstructions.

If after all this machine is still not working correctly go to this site http://dysonmanuals.llc.nu/

On this site you will find Dyson service manuals covering poor suction, clutch, motor, etc.
