(thank you budmrtn) my monitor shut off..i went online looking for solutions gate way fpd1975w..i looked hard for about 2 hours..i found a common problem was with the power supply..(budmrtn) hit it on the head..i am not an electronic expert at all..i have a soldering gun..thats is..no testers..so i took the monitor apart and found the power supply was a seperate board..i took it out and looked at it and said hmm. do i throw the 180.00 monitor out or do i take a chance..i took the chance..i went to radio shack and bought 10 capacitors like (budmrtn) said i replaced them..if it did not work i was out 10 buck and i was going to throw it away..but well and behold..i replaced the capacitors..just the big ones not the round blue ones..and wala..new monitor..it worked..crazy i no..but it worked..and i have a 19 inch lcd that works and i was going to throw it away..if you need to know what i replaced email me and ill let you know..

First place to check will be the power supply, look for bad caps with bulging tops or bottom seall first and report back what you find then we can guide you futher, see what bad caps look like here:

SOURCE: Gateway FPD1975W black 19 inch LCD

most likely is the power supply in the monitor.
gateway LCD has a building power supply in the monitor. it supplies 38W to the lamp.
since there is no display, it tells me that there is no power to the monitor.
if try another monitor and it works fine. then the problem is the monitor. (dispaly lamp is good for 17 Years- according to the tech spec.) but the power supply is pushing too much power.
other vendors max power is apporximately 30W.

make sure there is nothing behind the monitor and has good air flow. Since there is no fan in the unit. it need to vent the hot air natually.

FPD1975W TFT LCD monitor my monitor blinks a blue power light and flsahis a white screen but it does not turn on ?

Hello,

A flashing power light indicates a failure of the power supply, this will also cause the white screen. Here is a link to a page showing what parts need to be replaced to repair the power supply board and get your monitor back running again.

Fuzzy screen on Gateway FPD1975W TFT LCD Monitor

With the pixels acting up and the monitor having the same problem on any computer that its connected to. The screen itself is bad and since there are no replacement screens for that monitor, you would have to buy a new monitor or get it replaced if its under warranty.
