There are a few reasons why the bearings will need replacing on a regular basis and they are
1 the bearing is not a good fit in the bearing retainer meaning that there is slackness.
2 inferior bearings are being used , (most supplyers have alternative makes as replacements) sef are good bearings
3 the dammpers on the machine are warn or damaged allowing the drum to have excessive movments
4 constant over or underloding of the machine if you under load then the when on a spin the item unbalances the drum by adding weight to only one area making it spin a bit like wheel wobble on a car ,over loading has a simalar effect but this time it a weight problem, for the machne to have it best chances, it needs to be balanced never open machine unless the power is removed, another reason is the drum spider has not been replaced at the same time as the bearings most spider shafts become pitted with age and damaged on bearing removal if there is damage to the shaft then water from the machine could get past the seals and start attacking the bearings (a spider is a device that attaches the drum to the bearing shaft) normally replaced at every bearing change

It could be that the new bearings are being fitted onto a worn drum shaft, this would soon cause the bearings to fail again.
If it has not been replaced, then it should be done so.

My Maytag top load washer makes a squealing noise during sensing only. There is no noise during washing or during spinning. It is about 3 years old.

A squealing noise during the sensing cycle of your Maytag top-load washer can be caused by a number of factors. Here are some common reasons and steps you can take to resolve the issue:
  1. Loose belt - The noise could be caused by a loose or worn belt that needs to be tightened or replaced. You may need to remove the front panel of the washer to access the belt.
  2. Idler pulley - If the idler pulley that keeps tension on the belt is worn or damaged, it can cause a squealing noise. Replace the idler pulley if necessary.
  3. Bearing - A worn bearing in the tub can cause a squealing noise. Replacing the bearing will typically require disassembling the washer.
  4. Drive motor - If the drive motor is worn or damaged, it can cause a squealing noise. Replace the drive motor if necessary.
If you're not comfortable diagnosing and repairing the issue yourself, it's best to contact a qualified appliance repair technician for assistance.

When spinning sounds like maybe a bearing is going out and the unit is now leaking water from the bottom

if sound is to much noise during spin and water leak in tub unit,we need to replace bearing, but not an ordinary or by you to replace the bearing only the service technician can do dat coz of hard to remove some part of washing machine, but check also the price and labor cost before the final changing of the bearing,if your unit is old one,try to get the new one,coz after you replace the bearing some part also wort out after a month.if the price is reasonable to replace, replace it.

Drive belt on hotpoint wm56 keeps coming off when machine goes on fast spin. I have fitted a new belt but it still keeps happening.

Make sure belt is reasonably tight, and it is in the center of the drum pulley, if it still comes off, then I would suspect that the drum bearings are worn, or the drum is running out of alighnment, or the motor bearings are worn, if it is noisy when you spin the drum by hand, then the bearings have definately failed.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.

Grease/dark spots on 'clean' clothes

This is a cronic problem of front loader machines. The two bearings that hold the wash drum are dried out and then they over heat. The heat build up weakens the seal that keeps water in and grease out starts to leak and the problem just becomes worse with every load. A service repair man will charge you the cost of a new machine to fix the unit. You can replace the bearings and seal with parts from a bearing supply store and if you do, only use bearings from Japan or Germany. Your machine came with ones from China and that is why these machines are failing after 4 years.
