I have a Netgear router, net light stays orange can't get online

I have a Netgear WGR614 router, it worked great for about 7 months then because of a storm predicted I unplugged it (but I've done that before), now the router's internet light stays orange and I can't get on the net with it. On my PC it says I'm connected when I click the icon (but I'm not, I cant get anywhere) the icon's not blinking like it should. I'm only able to get online with my ethernet cable running across my living room to where it's plugged into my fiberwire/dsl box thats installed under a window and everyone including me keeps tripping on the cable nor can other PC's be used at the same time now. What can I do to fix my router so it'll work again?

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer me. Unfortunately your suggestions didn't help, the site you gave me just took me to the products page after a web search I found the site but it ends with .com not .net and nowhere is there a button to disconnect & connect there...unless you meant on my PC? As for reconfiguring I have no idea how to, my ISP's tech guy had to set it up for me which even he had a hard time with after I tried for days by myself & with Netgear's tech support on the phone, heavy accents I could barely understand them....they were no help at all. I did find on the site that the settings could of been saved to a folder for backup...why didn't the tech guy do that? I wish I had known about it then. Now my ISP refuses to help me saying that they don't support 3rd party routers and act like their tech guy never helped me. Instead they're telling me to buy their expensive router which they will support. I have a perfectly good router that just needs to be reset and reconfigured somehow and refuse to pay money I don't have to them.I switched to them back then and have had nothing but problems.

If anyone can please tell me how to do a reset & reconfigure my router I'd really appreciate it...and now I know about backing up my settings if I can get to that point. I have PPPoE and use XP....I have wireless on all the PC's in my house. The disc that came with it is useless, it didn't help me then nor now. This should be easy, I'm usually good with tech stuff but this? I'm about ready to pull my hair out!

I understand that you were not able to get help with the previous solution.

Here is a way to reset the router
Look behind the router where the cables are connected
You will find a hidden button which is the reset button
Push and hold it for 1min using a paper clip

Then follow this link to get help to update the settings on the router
http://kbserver.netgear.com/pdf/wgr614v6_ref_man_20Apr05.pdf

NOTE: Have all details related to your ISP.
Since you have a PPPoE connection you will definitely have a username and password
Have these details and follow the instructions in the file form the link

Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
then you need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

WGR614-netgear-54 mbps-Plus wireless plug=in

Only real trouble shooting I can suggest is power cycle the modem and router. If you have the Comcast Digital Voice modem make sure you push the reset button on the back as there is a battery in the unit and unplugging won't do anything.

Netgear wgr614v6 factory settings

If this is on the router itself, cycle the power first. If still no good, then clear the router's configuration to factory defaults. This will set the routers ip address to 192.168.1.1. You should have the manual and this will be on page 7-7 if not check out the link below
