I have my syncmaster 2220wm hooked up to my laptop. How can I get the monitor sound? It is only using the speakers on my laptop...??

Hello a 2250wm is actually a Viewsonic monitor not a Samsung monitor. To get the built in speakers to work you will need to connect the audio cable from your laptop to the monitor audio jack. This cable should have come with your monitor, it will have a headphone 3.5mm plug on both ends of the cable. If you do not have this cable yo will need to get one before you can make the speakers work right. Here is a link so you can get the cable if you need one.

Samsung Syncmaster 2220wm. All of sudden, the monitor went black. It does not show any light at all on the screen. The power light is on (light comes on green). I connected a different monitor, it worked...

Power capacitors on the power board most likely gone. You could get a qualified technician to investigate and repair by replacing the blown capacitiors ( you may notice a charring smell from the back of the monitor if they have gone). Cost of replacement is however likely to be more than the monitor replacement is worth. unlike CRT monitors, these are not designed to be easily repaired

SyncMaster 203B (Black) LCD Monitor: Monitor will not stay on (Samsung Syncmaster 203B)...

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

My Samsung syncmaster 2220WM will not stay on. It

Hello,

The picture board on your monitor has been malfunctioning for quite the period but you did not notice it, since the screen goes blank, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault and will need to be replaced.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to complicate issues.

Take care.

The Samsung Syncmaster 2220WM I have started to

blueangel617, If unit covered by warranty, use it first! It's free! Your next option is a possible ??? cash+dead unit swap-out for a same model refurbished unit from Samsung, if they have a program like that??? It depends on the AGE of unit! If you are not planning on doing DIY repair to your unit, or contracting out the work to local technician your next option for you as a consumer/user will possibly be trade-in for new! But, if you buy a new unit, the sales guy might drop the 2220WM on the computer tech's bench in the back room and say to the technician "here's another one to look at! See if you can do anything with it." Well, with a little bit of luck, (50/50 chance) the tech will open and inspect your unit and evaluate the condition of unit's "switch-mode-power-supply" and "CCFL inverter supply" make a decision to repair or not to repair. If the tech see's the "classic" common LCD problem, he just might invest less than $10 in parts and end up with a working 2220WM to give to his kid to use for another 1 to 3 years. Blueangel617, you and only you will determine what to do about your "black" or "black and blank" screen CCFL back-lit LCD monitor. I just hope I haven't confused you as to what to do!!! If you can access my fixya profile and those of other lcd monitor fixya tech's and do some reading, you might find out more options that will be a better solution for your 2220WM. Good luck and best wishes. 12fixlouie north of Windy City.
