Webcam gone blind

I just got a new (refurbished) notebook with a built in cam (Crystal eye) and it didn't work to begin with. when i would double click the Cam Icon it said "no camera found" so i looked for a soulution found one on this site and updated the drivers. so here is the new issue.

1. Camera does not show up in the device manager
2. It is working but no light is turning on and the application window where it is supposed to show a feed of the camera eye is Grey and i cannot adjust settings or resolution

2.. It is working but no light is turning on and the application window where it is supposed to show a feed of the camera eye is Grey and i cannot adjust settings or resolution

this means (in laymens terms) that the program will run but the camera won't ... hence the camera being blind i have reinstalled all the drivers already from the site yes ..

and now again it is saying it cannot find the camera at all ... now i have looked for the programs installed for it and there r three differnt installs for three different companies so i am going to try uninsalling them next

In "2." you say it is working. what appears to be working?

What brand and model is the notebook?

It may not be installed if it does not show in the device manager.

Have you looked in the Control Panel > Add & Remove

Programs list of installed programs to see if anything pertaining

    to the camera is installed.

The manufacturers web site may have updated drivers and information on your unit.

How do i turn on the webcam on my laptop?

Hello jenna_foster,

If you don't have a crystal eye webcam shortcut on your desktop then do the following:

•Click Start (lower left-hand of screen)
•Select Run
•Copy and paste this in the Run window (include quotation marks):
"C:\Program Files\ACER Crystal Eye webcam\Acer Crystal Eye webcam.exe"
•Click ok

The Crystal Eye webcam will become activated

Cannot find the icon or whatever in order to use the crystal eye

Right click on an open space of your desktop. Select New>Shortcut.

When the Create Shortcut window comes up, click Browse.

Double-click "Computer".

Double-click "Acer (C:)" or your C: drive. It may not be named Acer.

Double-click "Program Files".

Double-click "Acer Crystal Eye webcam".

Click "Acer Crystal Eye webcam" next to the small icon. (NOTE: Do not select the one that just says "Crystal Eye". It is only an icon, not the program.)

Click OK.

Back at the Create Shortcut window, click Next.

Type in whatever name you want to give, or leave the default as is.

Click Finish.

Icon appears on desktop. Double-click the icon to begin the program.
