Cold solder joints on the flyback transformer circuit board - probably because RCA used feed-thru steel rivets on their boards. Re-solder the connections using a good solder flux for clean solder joints and this will fix prob. The joints with the dull, pitted finish are the problem joints.

By-the-way, this advice was directed to TV techs. I do not advise you open your TV up or you might see Jesus. There are dangerously high voltages present even with the TV unplugged: The picture tube is like a giant capacitor and will hold a high voltage long after set is unplugged. But it's not that high voltage (like a carpet zap) that will stop your heart - it's the high current that the tube can deliver. There is a detailed procedure for discharging that tube. So please refer to an experienced tech.

Let verify first to narrow down to where the problem can be. First, make sure the MUTE or SAP function is not activated, and then check the on screen sound set up menu to make sure the speakers are not set to OFF. If the setting is OK, then attach the powered PC speakers to the Audio Line out RCA jacks (Red and White) to see if you can get the sound there, if you do, then the problem can be in the power amp circuits, if you do not get the sound at RCA jacks, then the problem can be in the sound processor circuit. Please post back what you find.
