My Wireless Internet on my new Compaq Presario F500 isnt working, even when i put the switch in the on position or the internet. Someone please help.

If it is a new laptop and especially if you have re-installed or installed Windows, then the possible problem is that you new to install/re-install the Motherboard/SCM/Soft Keys drivers (eg. the one that can be used to turn on Wifi, Blue-Tooth, Camera ...etc from the keyboards & other buttons) specific to your laptop AND operating system. It normally comes on a CD/DVD or is installed in a HDD 'drivers' directory.
You could try to turn on the Wifi adapter 'radio' on by going to the Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Network adapters -> select your Wireless Adapter card -> right click to get context menu for 'Properties' -> use 'Advanced' tab -> select Radio on/off option -> set the value to 'Enable' to turn on your Wifi card manually!

Hope it helps!

I replaced the hdd in my desktop. I cant connect it to the internet because it needs the drivers to connect it. The hdd came out of another desktop

If you lack the drivers to get your "transplanted" computer online, you need to determine what type of network adapter your computer has. Is it on the motherboard or is it a PCI or USB network adapter? If you're not sure how to tell what type of network adapter you have, you'll have to write back for more help on that. Once you've identified the type and manufacturer, you can go to the manufacturers website on another computer and from the support/driver/download area of their website, download the driver, and copy it to some form of removable media (USB stick, CD, or external hard drive) in order to transfer it to the computer we're trying to fix. (If the downloaded file is an executable program, copy it to the computer you're trying to fix, double click on it, and it should install the drivers in the correct place for you. If not, follow the steps below)

After you've downloaded and copied the driver to the problem computer, (assuming this is on a Windows PC), go to the Start menu, click on "Control Panel", double click on "System". Click on the "Hardware" tab in the new window that opens up, and then on the "Device Manager" button. You will see a list of hardware devices on your computer. Click on "Network Adapters", then go to the action menu, "Scan for hardware changes". The scan results should either walk you through the steps to automatically load the drivers for the network adapter if not already loaded, or you will see an icon under the Network Adapters category with a problem icon next to it. Right click on that device, then click "Properties" to start the process of manually loading the drivers that you copied onto the removable media.

Let me know how you make out.

Unable to get on the internet. in device manager network adapters not working. Tried to update, and install from resorce c/d. still not working

your adapter might have burned out. easy thing to do is goto best buy, and buy a new network adapter card. last time i bought one it was around $15 bucks. then disable your current network adapter turn the computer off and then read the directions for installing the new one. the other way would be to download the drivers from dells website from another computer, save on a CD and then try to install them, but i would bet your network adapter just fried but your comp still says its there.

Reboot and try wireless again ;-)

Foxconn 845GV4MR-ES Lan refuses to work

Have you installed the correct drivers for this mobo? You can get them here:

http://www.foxconnchannel.com/support/downloads.aspx?ProductModel=845GV4MR-ES&TypeID=en-us0000004

I've used these with XP Pro and everything works. You have to install the chipset driver before the others. Also, do you have the onboard network adapter enabled in the BIOS?

New issue

If you right-click the "unknown" device and select Update Driver, you can force windows to search for the correct driver, and then put in the CD or floppy that came with the network adapter, and tell Windows to look on that CD or floppy. If the installation process didn't work, this might.
