Kodak 5100 wont print after paper jam

After printing business cards, had to remove some fragments of the border around the cards that had jamed in the mechanism. Now get smeared or no print. Full ink cartridges. Can't figure out how to open machine to clear possible jam around print heads. Panel at back doesnt give full access. How do I open it up further? Is it possible or do I have to junk it?

how do I get the paper out from a jam?

  • Anonymous Jan 21, 2009

I've been trying to print off exam review papers and when i was printing off, and it jammed. It briefly showed something about un doing it and fixing the jam but it wasn't very helpfull.. now i can't print anything off.

This printer is a pain in the ***, and kinda a scam to buy their paper.

If you cant get the jam cleared from the back or the top access door you could exchange it from where you got it. Or try and open it up and fix it yourself but that will void the waranty and you wont be able to exchange it. Or you could check the yellow pages for a PC/printer repair shop. But I mostly recomend trying to exchange it from where you bought it.

  3. Check the exposed paper slot for paper fragments and/or jammed sheets of paper in the slot. Use tweezers to remove any paper fragments from the paper slot.

  5. Dip a lint-free cloth in the bowl of water. Wring out excess water.
  6. Wipe the paper-feed rollers located in the paper sloth with the damp cloth. Turn the rollers with the cloth to remove any caked-on debris from the rollers.
  7. Turn the cloth to a clean side. Continue cleaning the rollers until the debris is gone.
  8. Let the paper-feed rollers air dry.
  9. Remove the paper from the paper tray. Fan the paper to keep the sheets from sticking together.
  10. Reload the paper tray with additional paper from a printer paper kit. Place the new paper below any older paper in the paper tray. Do not load more than 30 sheets of paper.
  11. Reinstall the paper tray. Print a test picture to check the Printer Dock.

Paper is jamming when I print something

Were you able to remove all of the original jammed business cards? where the leading edge of the "Fanfold" prints occurs, you will probably find something blocking the paper path. HP printers usually have a limit on the paper weight that the printer can handle when doing duplex (2 sided) printing. Check this against the weight of the cards you are printing.

The paper is not feeding into the printer straight. And sometimes jams. The paper jamed when I tried to print onthe back side of a sheet of paper.

if its an inkjet printer then please mark that the catridges are able to free scroll on the carraige and if they fail then remove the catridges take a clean piece of cotton clean the foil which connects the catridge to the circuit , this worked for my HP 3940,
