You have a cold solder joint [broken weld] around a color output transistor. Have someone check the grounds on the back of the CRT board. And resolder, and while they are at it they may as well pull out the board and resolder the vertical output IC. One other thing have them check and replace the deflection electrolytic capacitors.

Sony rear projection kp-577hw40, screen turns red after being on for 10 minutes

This model and some others had bad picture tubes that are no longer available---there is an option here.

If screen gets bright red, green, or blue set will shut down as it detects too much current being drawn.

Seen over 100 with this issue--what can be tried and usually will help is a physical adjustment inside the set.

No parts to replace and takes about 15 minutes to do.

I can tell you how if you want to know.

My tv is not working right with picture.

Press the TV button on the remote, make sure the TV is plugged in, check the electrical outlet to make sure it is live if the TV does not turn on. If these actions do not solve the problem, press the Power button on the front of the TV. If the TV turns on, replace the batteries in the remote control and reset it by pressing the number 1 button for 60 seconds. If necessary, reprogram the remote.

Unplug the TV for two minutes, then plug it back in if the buttons on the remote don't work. Make sure the remote is in TV mode.

Change the settings on the sleep timer if the TV turns off unexpectedly. Unplug the TV and wait five minutes before plugging it back in if necessary.

Check your antenna connections and cables if the sound is okay but the picture is poor. If all the connections are good, adjust the sharpness function.

Sony television, model number KP51HW40,serial number 9026465,the problem is turn on the tv within in 30second the screen come to blue but sound is coming,no picture

If you are saying it goes to a bright blue screen I can tell you what to try.

This model has a history of bad picture tubes--red,green and mostly blue.

The blue screen can be turned down and I can tell you how.

The way you will know if this is your problem is take the set to a unused video input--all you should see is video 1 etc in green; if you see blue with or without trace lines you have the problem.

Let me know what you find and if so I will tell you how to adjust the set manually to try to correct it.

Plasma TV Picture Periodically Blurry/Color is Distorted

This sound more like a cable issue. Also check the leads going from your cable box to the set/ If you are using component cables one of them may be loose.

I have a sony kp-51hw40, it started to have blue and red lines accross the screen. now the picture turns blue then turns off. is my red and blue gun wore out?

find someone that knows about TVs to take off the front access cover and adjust the screen controls .DON'T TOUCH THE FOCUS KNOBS.Just the screen control knobs.Usually they can work a few more years with adjustements . But if it can't be adjusted to work then the guns would have to be repaced. Many many many many of your model were affected by a little screw up sony made with their CRTs.

Our 1991 RCA P52150CP rear projection TV has gradually been getting bright cloudy blue, slight haze around letters & shapes-(especially blue channel change headings) when first turned on and then it...

Hi

First check whether all the cables from your dishnetwork are fine and connected firmly. If yes then you'll need to pull off the front of the tv, behind the speaker grill there would be a panel. Remove the panel and check for a black box hanging over there. It has 6 controls on it, 3 are marked as focus and 3 as screen. You'll need to adjust the screen. If you turn these too high you can damage a tube. so we are doing real small adjustments. Turn the color off on the tv and adjust the red, blue & green controls up till you get a fine picture. Also adjust the focus until you get a clear picture.

And, if it doesn't resolve your issue then it is an intermittant blue picture tube, a bad blue driver transistor on the CRT board, a bad connection on the blue crt board, or a problem in the RGB coming from the video jungle IC. A set this age, most likely will run you about 300 to 500 bucks to have this problem fixed, unless it is the picture tube.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

KP-51HW40 Sony 51" Fades to blue screen

The service manual on page 8 shows how to adjust the Red/Blue/Green screen voltages. To get to the adjustment board, take the front speaker grill off (two screws at the bottom left and right) and set it aside. No need to disconnect any wires. Then remove the plywood board with 4 screws that exposes the screen/focus adjustments. The top 3 adjustments are for focus, and you need not mess with these. The bottom 3 adjustments are for Red/Blue/Green screen voltage rough adjustments. My screen showed red lines, so I had to turn the bottom right adjustment with a philips head screwdriver just slightly until the red gun retrace lines where no longer visible.
