My question is in regards to my Kenmore electric range, Model: 790.96219407. The left front element is not functioning. I tried replacing the left front element but this did not work. Could it be in the dial switch controlling it? When I turn the switch on, the general "element on" light on the right of the control area lights up even though the element does not heat. However the "power light" above the dial switch itself does not light up at all.

It is usually always an infinite switch, Rarely is it a surface element. The fact that the power light does not go on is also a good clue that your switch is bad. If it was a problem with the wiring to the element, your light would be on. When you order the switch, ask for the exact origional replacement. They have some generic switches that have shafts that have to be broken off to the right size for your range. These are not as reliable as the origional which usually has a much stronger shaft. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists.

The only way to be sure is to see if power is getting to the element from the switch with a meter. Chances are this is the case since a new element did not solve the problem.

Where are the fuses for the Sears Kenmore stove to elements located on Model C880 675080L0

Most likely no fuses. Either the element or the switch that turns it on is bad. If lighat comes on when you turn on burner the switch is probably ok and the burner went bad.

The "element on' light on my Kenmore Electric Range wont turn off.

The element on indicator is typically controlled by the infinite switch (the temperature control) for the element.

Same problem (and it started over xmas...what a coincidence). Replaced the switch and no luck. Bought another eye (used one on ebay) and no luck. I need to stop shotgunning and bring in a voltmeter. I'll let you know if I find anything. Have you figured it out?

Left front burner on kenmore electric range doesn't turn on!

It is possible that it is the element as they are the first items to fail
next is the switch which is a thermostat operation
elements cost upwards from $30.00 and the switch upwards from $60.00
you may have to get a technician to come and advise the problem

Kenmore electric stove model c880.6383880 left front burner does not work....it is not the element itself as it heats up on another burner.

hi,

sounds like you have the old-style coil elements on you stove.

your problem is the switch under the element, called the infinite switch. i would suggest to have a technician replace it. they usually charge for the labour but if you have never done it before, it's money well spent.
