I just got a new HP M1522nf. i am awaiting the IT people to hook it up to the network. but in the meantime, when i plug it in and power up, except for once, it buzzes continuously. the sound comes from the back. how do i cut the buzz? or is it broken out of the box?

JUST GO TO THE HP SITE OF U R COUNTRY AND SELECT THE PRINTER SPECS AND DOWNLOAD IT. BUT DO REMEMBER THAT NOT ALL PRINTERS OF HP PRINTERS ARE COMPATIBLE TO WINDOWS 7,AS THEY R YET TO HAVE DRIVERS LISTED IN THEIR SITE .PLEASE CHECK ON THEIR SITE

How are you connecting this printer to your computer ? usb or network ?
If its network i would recommend you to make sure that the IP Address on the printer matches with the one set on the printer driver on the pc

Hi the easiest way is a nv ram

1. Turn the printer off
2. Hold down the down arrow and the cancel button
3. Reboot the printer while holding the buttons and hold until permanent storage is displayed. Let go of the buttons and wait for the ready message on the display.

This reset will clear all of your saved settings and contacts, if networked print out a configuration report after resetting the printer to view the ip address (IPV4). If the IP address has changed you will need to update the print driver's port tab and update the port.

Turn the printer off, hook up the USB cable and try making a firmware update, you can find the file for making the firmware update from support and drivers section under www.hp.com, finally turn the printer back on


If this does not fix the problem means that the formatter board is damaged, call 1800 334 51 44 (hp tech support)

If your printer is connected in the Network and you are able to print fine than there is no communication Error.
In htan case if you are not able to scan then you need to upgrade the firmware of the printer and install it and i m sure your printer wiill scan scanning on the Network.

However before you start sending firmware to the printer you need to make sure that printer driver is installed on the PC.
