Install a new printwheel the "i" spoke is broken. The 2 lines is the face of the hammer.

Brother ML 100 typewriter. When I type it does different things like symbol or numbers and barely ever prints a letter and if it does its not the same letter that I pressed.

Question edited for clarity and typo.

Contact Brother Support for a warranty claim or the address of a Service Centre. Someone is selling a new one for $600!

It is a Daisy Wheel printer, so make sure the wheel is located correctly.

I'm getting wrong letters when i type

Probably the P/W homing pawl. Turn the T/W on, mark the P/W with a dab of white out. turn it off and back on if the mark isn't in the dame place you need a tech.

My Brother ML100 is not printing what I type

Hammer sticking and typing incorrect letters (and or skipping letters): 1) make sure daisy wheel installed correctly. 2) hold down CODE key & Q (RESET) to reset wheel...if still not corrected 3) WD40 the hammer at the base & joints where moving parts are, keep typing until oil seeps in (this last one fixed it for me)

Typing light and inconsistant-top part of letter okay but bottom too light or not there: to left of hammer (at base) are 2 screws, I losened them and adjusted hammer to different forward and backward spots..finally found the ideal location where full letter printed and had the correct force it needed to print correctly.

Change font size on my bother ML 100

A typewritter is not like a computer. It is a mechanical device, that works by pressing an embossed letter in the daisy wheel through a inked tape into the paper.
The only way you can change either the font type or the font size is by buying and replacing the daisy wheel by another one with different font type/size letters.
To get to know more about your typewritter and accessories that might still be available to it, download Brother ML-100 Typewriter User's Manual
Click on "Go to View/Download Page" and in the new page click the "View/Download" button.
Look for page 16 (last page) of the manual for a list of cassette daisy wheels.

ML 100 Brother - Standard

If the characters are showing up different than the ones you pushed then your wheel is probably bent. First, open the clear cover on your ml100. Second there is a black lever that you pull towards you. Next, you pull the wheel out and if any of the arms on it are bent than straighten them out, and make sure none of the arms are over lapping. Next, return the wheel, push the black lever back into place, close the clear cover and then hold down the code button and press the reset key (the "q" key). If that does not work then you need a new wheel. This is what just worked for me, I hope it helps.
