Won't print. Error is printer is offline. Can't fine what that means. Won't print a test page.

no printer made lies , offline means printer is turned offline or it is failing and turn itself offline.

2004 printers, ive never seen one ever last this long
and has no wifi.

try on the print menu open file and you will see offline click on it to change to online and let me know again if we can try another solution

Any error messages on the printer digital screen or the desktop? I take it the "The ink is fine" means that there is ink in the cartridges!

Try a test print via the Control Panel> Printers and Faxes> properties > Print test page.

First, make sure that the printer is properly connected to the computer and it's turned on.

Go to Control Panel > Printers > right-click the printer icon > select "Use printer Online".

Make sure the clear the pending documents on the queue before trying to print a test page.

it depends on the error message why the test page won't print. If it just won't print at all, try to reseat the paper into the printer and turn off/on the printer then try to print the test page.

If it doesnt, then turn off the printer, remove cables. And then press and hold the power button on the printer for 5 seconds . Reinsert cables and turn on the printer and print the test page anew....

There could be a Software issue or hardware issue --
1) To check the software issue
Print a Test Page -- from the computer
2) To check the hardware
Press the Power button to turn the product on.
Press and hold the Power button
Open and close the front cover four times.
Release the Power button. The self-test will print
and it it is printing the hardware is fine ...
3) Then you can check by changing the USB Cable connection

Replace the Toner,Trouble shoot the Logic Board by an engineer
check out the PCB peripherals attached to it

are drivers up-to-date? it's in most cases driver fault offline status means printer is not communicating with pc not that it needs to be checked use printer offline. are cables tested by cable tester? that cable seems ok and it's plugged in doesn't mean it's ok inside

I assume all hardware connections are fine, and any lose cable connections are already checked then......

1)Send a test page to the printer Open up the print jobs, and try deleting all jobs (click on the printer from printer and faxes under control panel, delete all print jobs, Still in this window click printer and uncheck the print offline, does this help?) if not then

2)Try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer driver and then try printing a test page.

3)Try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer software and driver and then try printing a test page.

If nothing works then:
-Uninstall all printer software, driver unplug and reseat an original hp cartridge and go this link install software and driver and follow instructions on how to install the drivers, at the end click the check button to see if driver is fine. Now you should be able to print.
