When I press start on the washer I dont hear any water pouring into the washer. The washer makes the sound like it is going to start spinning the clothes but it never spins. So it never starts washing the clothes?
ive taken off the hose at the back of the machine and have run the water. I checked the screen and cant see anything clogging it.
My water is filling very slowly like a sprinkle of cold water coming out.
The hot water runs fine. Just the cold waterive taken off the hose at the back of the machine and have run the water. I checked the screen and cant see anything clogging it.

It sounds like your washer is not getting enough water to start. If your washing machine is filling too slowly, then you probably have a clogged screen on the back of your washer. To check this: Turn off the water supplies(both hot and cold). Remove the hoses at the back of the washer. Check the screens for debris(i.e. rust, dirt, scale, etc.) The screens will be pushed into the back of the washer where the water enters the washer. Debris can come from a variety of places: #1 Deposits coming off the sides of your pipes.(Older homes) #2 Repairs done to your plumbing lines, or the cities lines.
If these screens are clear of debris, I would then check the water flow out of the hoses. Take each hose with the end pointing into a bucket, and turn on the water to allow a full flow. This will also flush each line of debris. There could also be a number of reasons that there would not be full flow out of the supply lines: #1 Debris stopping up the line at the shut-off is one of the main causes.
If you have debris stopping up your screens and shut-offs, it will most likely stop up your aerators on your faucets, and your shower heads too. It is also suggested that you check these.
If you are getting debris in all these items, I would recommend that your lines get flushed. You can do this, but many times it is easier to have a plumber do this. If you do not know what you are doing, it can get very wet, and time consuming.
This problem is commonly attributed to either a water inlet valve leaking by, or a pressure switch malfunction. The following link explains how to diagnose the problem:

sounds like the door lock mechanism. if this cannot signal it has engaged, to the board, no other function will work (you don't want the washer going with the door open, trust me :) )
Either one of your water valves isn't working properly, or the lines have sediment restricting the volume of water . What I would do is turn the water to the machine off and remove the water lines and make sure they aren't filled will calcium, etc. and look in the water valves where the hoses connect because that are, which has a screen, may be full of nastiness. If both those are good then the water valve solenoid(s) are stuck and won't open. The humming sound you hear lets you know the rest of the machine is working because the sound is generated by power being applied to the valve by the control.
there are a lot of questions of a simular nature check the diaphram switch this controls how much water is taken in and wont progress until the switch says so what you dont say is if the machine keeps filling or stops filling and wont progress

Sounds like you may have a siphoning problem. Have you checked the drain line by pulling it up out of the standpipe while the washer was filling? You may have a vacuum causing the water to constantly siphon. The following link explains this:
Having the drain hose high enough may not be the problem. You could very well have the hose stuffed in the standpipe too tight, or placed in the pipe too far. Please doublecheck and let me know if you need further assistance.
In addtion, please post the make and model number of your washer for better advice.
How is the water tempture is it hot water when you have it set on hot?? and vice versa?? you may have a clogged fill valve screen you will need to shut off the water and remove the fill hoses and check the screens that are in the water inlet valve use a opened paperclip to hook and puul them out to cleans Hope this helps If not plz let me know and we can go futher into the mach
hmmm...wool requires cold water...I'm guessing that first the hot water and now the cold water solenoid valves have become clogged with sediment. test by turning off water. then loosen the hose connection to each inlet in back of washer. then slowly open water valves and let water pour into wash tub if hose will reach, otherwise pour into a bucket. if water comes out of hose, then look for metal screens at hose connections to washer and clean those. if still no water through solenoids (after re-connecting water hoses) then may need to disassemble solenoids and clean those too.
