Disconnecting wiring from power supply block

This step may be optional, if power supply block must be transferred to purchased replacement optical block. Undo the blue plastic-coated wire holders to release the two wire bundles. Disconnect the connectors shown with the dotted lines in the photo below. One, which presumably provides power, is disconnected directly from the power supply block, and the other is a regular wire connector.how do I change the optical block in a sony tv - a837b7e.jpg

Remove the screw and gently pull the blue ribbon ribbon cable out of the side of the C Board:

Your optical block should now be entirely free of the TV and ready to ship. I recommend adding specific protection for the projection lens, then sealing the whole unit in a bag to prevent infiltration of dust or packing materials, then carefully packaging it with substantial padding.

Removing the projection lamp (in cases where you are installing a purchased replacement optical block)

Loosen the hex screw next to the projection lamp housing, and pull the lamp and housing outward from the metal clips.

here are the remaining picture that were missed due to some problem.

    The
following two pictures show a replacement board that also needs to be
installed on some models (including at least some KF-60WE610's). Note
that this board is installed in a different part of the TV (probably
near the audio-video unit/chassis), and that many models do not require
    this separate board.

    best of luck....

Is there anything like optic unit for sony kf 50e200a

If you are refuring to an Optic Block then yes. This is the heart of your Television. It controls all of the color and projects the image out to you. i believe this model uses 1 of 2 different Optic Blocks. So if you are going to change one, you need to know which one is in your set.

Sony KDS-R50XBR1 optical engine problem

Sony TVs has an Optical Block issue. If there is an issue with the optical block, then there will be green, blue patches or tint on the TV display. Try resetting the TV to the factory settings and try Power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue still persists, then TV may require service. You can contact the Customer relations team and check for the available options. Sony had repaired free of cost for such issues. Hence, contact the customer relations.

We have bluish spots on our picture. It's not the lamp. We had them before and after we changed it.

This is an inherent issue with the optical block of your TV. It was an design flaw in the TV that is only fixed by replacing the optical block. This is the most expensive part in the TV and is very hard to replace.
Part number: A-1084-660-A
List price: $552.39
Core Charge $1060.00

Sony did extend the warranties for the optical blocks of this model until Dec 31, 2008. Try calling Sony to see if they will pay for at least part of the repair. You will need a technician to come out either way to replace the part as you need to take the whole TV apart to get access to it.

Hey joseph, actually replacing the optical Block is not necessary at all, all you need to do is get into the "Service Mode" of the Tv and change a few setting around, did it a few weeks ago and now my TV looks perfect, no reason to waster $1200 as sony is trying to get over on all us consumers.

Please help-question about sony optical blocks

Talk to Sony about the blue blob issue, they may still replace the optical block for free.

If not, fix the blinking light TV.

Blink Codes
3X - Lamp cover not installed correctly, usually after lamp change, or cover detect switch is bad.
4X - Check fans (one or more failed to pass RPM test during power on diagnostics)
5X - Lamp ballast (power supply)
6X - Usually the thermal fuse - usually from inadequate air flow (fans dusty)

All other codes usually require a trained technician to diagnose and repair.
