I want to connect a Canon ZR 800 using firewire to my MacBook Pro.

To connect your Canon ZR 800 camcorder to your MacBook Pro using a Firewire connection, you will need a Firewire cable and a Firewire port on your computer. Here are the steps you can follow to connect your camcorder to your MacBook Pro:
  1. Locate the Firewire port on your MacBook Pro. It is usually located on the side or back of the computer and is marked with a symbol that looks like a small lightning bolt.
  2. Connect one end of the Firewire cable to the Firewire port on your MacBook Pro.
  3. Locate the Firewire port on your Canon ZR 800 camcorder. It is usually located on the side or back of the camcorder and is marked with a symbol that looks like a small lightning bolt.
  4. Connect the other end of the Firewire cable to the Firewire port on your camcorder.
  5. Turn on your camcorder and set it to playback mode.
  6. Open the video editing software on your MacBook Pro and choose the option to import video from a Firewire device.
  7. Follow the prompts in the software to import the video from your camcorder.
I hope this helps! If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I have camcorder trv 355e I WANT DRIVERS FOR the same for os windows 7

This type of camera downloads video with a Firewire (Sony call this i.Link) connection. Some mini-DV and D8 cameras have a USB connection which is used for stills ONLY.

Most PCs have a USB port, but no Firewire port. Macs often have a Firewire port but may not have USB. As most Windows PCs do not come with this interface, you might need to fit an add-on Firewire interface card. This will come with a driver for the card.

Suitable Firewire (DV) cables can easily be found on Amazon or eBay. You will need the kind with a small (four pin) connector at one end and a larger (six pin) connector at the other. My camera came with the correct lead.

There is a Sony tutorial page for downloading video to computer at THIS LINK You will need to select Windows as the operating system, then Digital8 as the camera type, then select the type of connection. As you will see, the USB option warns that it won't work with many cameras, and you are strongly recommended to use i.Link (which everyone else calls Firewire).

I want to download material from my Sony DCR-TRV17E MiniDV camcorder to my Windows 7 laptop. Can you help with connectivity issues please?

Windows 7 compatibility- Sony say it is compatible, but "Windows 7 needs to be preinstalled at the factory" (meaning installed on the computer) rather than an Update to Vista or XP performed by the user. You must also use i.Link, not USB.

Hi, I'm wondering if you can help, I have a Sony DCR-TRV340E camcorder and wish to take the video footage from one of the tapes and record/stream it onto my MacBook pro. I've tried using the USB cable...

*reason for not streaming the video: its because you're using the wrong type of cable to stream it to a macbook

*type of cable needed: you need a firewire cable to stream videos from your camcorder to your macbook.

*please make sure to check if your macbook has a firewire(IEEE) port on it and also make sure what type of firewire port it has( 4 pin or 6 pin firewire port)

*check your macbook specification for a firewire port and make sure to check how mny pinslot it has before buying a firewire cable.

* the other end of a firewire cable would surely fit the camcorder and the other end would depend on the firewire port available in your macbook.

* you would also be needing an application on your macbook that would record streamed videos.

WHICH FIREWIRE CABLE DO I GET FOR THE SONY DCR-TRV22E DV

you would need a ieee1394 4pin cable for the camcorder. of course the other end of the cable would depend on the computer's ieee1394 jack you'll be connecting the cable to. there are 2 types of ilink cables: 4pin-to-4pin or a 4pin-to-6pin (firewire 400) cable. latest mac computers uses a firewire 800 port so if your using one you may need a Moshi 800 to 400 firewire adapter if your having compatibility issues. see: http://store.apple.com/us/product/TW748LL/A for more information. hope this helps. thanks:)

Can hdc-tm20 connect a firewire cable?

From what I have heard this camera has no firewire, but it has USB download to PC and AV sockets, I hear that a new version soon will carry the firewire mode as I like many other camera user's do find that the firewire to PC connection is the best, but saying that if you record on the flash mem mostly you can plug that card into the latest PC's anyway, if you can do that then it will be very high def movies indeed.
I would not like to use a USB download cable as you will find picture suffers badly.

Firewire

Yes, you can capture camcorder video from a miniDV camcorder using a FireWire cable and video capture software. Your computer came pre-installed with Windows Movie Maker, or iMovie (if you are on a Mac).

FireWire, IEEE 1394 and iLink are all the same thing. There are 4 and 6 pin FireWire cords. My guess is that you need a 4pin to connect to your camcorder and a 6 pin to connect to your computer. But it all depends on what ports you have available.

You can get a FireWire cord for less than $10 at most computer electronics stores

How can i plug with Mac OS DCRHC40E

According to the specifications listed on FixYa, this camcorder has an iLink port (also known as Firewire or IEEE1394). Apple computers have long supported Firewire--indeed, it was the original connection type for the iPod.

I'm assuming you're using a relatively recent version of OS X, say 10.3 or later.

There are two sizes of Firewire socket, and you'll need a cable that suits your devices.  The socket on your camera will be the small, square-ish type; compare this to the one on your Mac. If the socket on your Mac is bigger, you'll need a "4-pin to 6-pin Firewire cable"; if not, you'll need a "4-pin to 4-pin Firewire cable". More details on Firewire, including photos of plugs and sockets, are on Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firewire

Once connected, you should be able to use Apple iMovie, Final Cut Express, or similar to capture and edit your footage.
