Hi, I accidentally dropped my acer travelmate and now it wont start because of the shock, can't someone tell me how can I reboot my system?
Hi,
There would be four (4) components that could have been affected by the drop:
1. battery - pls check that the battery is snugly fit and mates with the contacts/connectors;
2. memory - normally inside a squarish panel/lid held by a screw or two. Inside would be one or two memory modules held in place by retaining side clips. Pls, try to do an R & R, remove and re-insert. You need to move the retaining clips partially sideways to release the memory. It might also be a good idea to clean the little gold pins with a pencil eraser;
3. video card (if separate from the motherboard) something similar to the memory but slightly bigger and square (compared to the rectangular memory strip);
4. hard disk - normally are simply snap in place and can easily be dislodged. It would normally be inside a rectangular opening covered by a panel or lid held by a single (or 2) screw(s). You can also perform an R & R here.
If your concern has not been corrected after completion of the above procedures, further diagnosis may be required. This could be aided by information on other symptoms, signs, beeping sounds, flashing light and any or all other indicators.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FIXYA.
