For stereo only go to the Bose site and look up the 901. For multichannel, you would need to be able to extract the Line Level Front L and R to a new amplifier and hook the 901's to that amp. I don't see that ability on this receiver. I have posted dozens of solutions for receivers that CAN draw out Front L & R to use 901's in multichannel rigs. I do it.

The closest you could come with this receiver is to draw out the Stereo L and R Line Level from the Tape Out jacks, but that would not be like having the discrete Front channels. You need true pre-amp outputs for the Front L and R.

Hi,,My onkyo tx-sv828thx problem was it shows "protect" sometimes.then after 2 to 3 second its back to normal operation. What do you think the problem?can i do it by myself? anyway,i am using...

The protect message appears when the current powering an amplifier inside the receiver goes beyond the safety limit or the amplifiers overheat. So just check the wiring and the speakers impedance with an ohmmeter - each should be above 6 ohms
If they are lower then you have a short in one of the actual drivers of the Bose 901 speaker . If the impedance is OK then the Onkyo overheats, place it in a better position to increase the airflow thru it.

I have the following equipment and am going crazy trying to figure out how they get connected together. I also have the Carver Multi CD player and Carver Cassette Deck which I was able to connect to the...

Get a separate amp for the 901's and the rest falls into place.

1,2, 5) Place the 901 Active EQ between the pre/main front OUT of the receiver and the TFM-55X. Attach the 901's. Keep track of the jumpers you remove from the receiver. Or replace the jumpers with RCA splitter cables so you still have pre/main connection but can share the output with the TFM.

3) Pinnacle subwoofer (self-powered?) to the subwoofer out of the receiver.

4) Bose (AMS???) 5. As surrounds on the receiver. Place the sub module toward the rear so it mates sonically and directionally with them.

What? No center speaker? I'd get something more robust with bass capabilities, like a pair Bose 301 series 1's because the tweeters face in one direction only.

Except for the amps and the cube stuff that is essentially what I have. 6.1 with full-range speakers everywhere.

I just enherited a pair of bose 901 speakers

My suggestion is do not hook the 901's directly to the Onkyo. It is compatable, but they WANT more than what the receiver can give them. I suggest going and getting a dedicated amplifier for them. Trust me, you'll be a lot happier going that route.

Bose 901 hookup with Onkyo SR 805 and Onkyo M282 amp and 901 EQ/

The good news. I have a setup similar to what I think you're trying to do and it works great!

The Onkyo M-282 stereo amp for the 901's is the perfect solution. Run it with the Active EQ between the receiver Front L&R Pre-Outputs ** and the 901's amp channels.

**Onkyo SR805 Pre-Out Front >>> Bose EQ Amplifer IN
Bose EQ Amplier OUT >>> Onkyo M-282 IN

Set the Input Level on the back of the Onkyo to MAX. The receiver controls everything just fine after you run through your level setup routine again.

I was looking a the 12v triggers on both units and it looks like you only have a Zone 2 trigger so that wouldn't work for turning on your M-282. I guess you're going to have to turn it on and off the old fashioned way, like I do mine.

How do I connect my bose 901 active equalizer to a onkyo tx-sr506

AV receivers are notoriously incompatable for Bose 901s. The problem is the EQ charges the entire system and could damage the surround processor. Some higher end AV receivers, including some of the newer Onkyo models have pre out power in inputs on main or all seven channels.which you could install your EQ directly between pre amp & power amp without damaging processor. You can also add a two-channel amplifier to the pre out jacks front channels and use your recever's remote to control volume.

Bose Cinemateonnect

Hi lechap,

With the indulgence of IB4G2008 as per his last post Feb 13.....

If I figure your concerns right, they are:
1. You have an iPod on an Onkyo IPod dock that you want to connect to an Onkyo receiver TX-302;
2. You have an Onkyo receiver TX-302 that you want to power a set of Bose Cinemate speakers;
3. the connectors on some do not fit or are not the same;
4. you want to know what goes to where.

If I may suggest:
a. connect the L/R Audio Out of the Onkyo IPod dock to the L/R Audio IN of VIDEO 1 using a pair of RCA to RCA cable. Connect the S Video Out of the Onkyo IPod dock to the Video IN of VIDEO 1 using an S Video to RCA Video cable. Thereafter if you want to watch a movie or play music from your iPod, you need to choose Video 1 in the Onkyo receiver TX-302. You can of course choose any other VIDEO 1~3;572fcdc.jpg34ab5d3.jpg

d21fa99.jpg
b. all other source/devices may be connected similarly using the same scheme on any of the free VIDEO / AUDIO inputs
c. of course the MONITOR OUT goes to your TV or projector.

With respect to the Bose Cinemate, it would not be technically correct to connect the Bose Cinemate speakers straight to the speaker out of the Onkyo receiver TX-302. You need to install another set of speakers to the speaker outs of the Onkyo receiver. The Bose Cinamate system's TV AUDIO could be connected to the TAPE OUT (or the AUDIO L/R OUT of VIDEO 1)

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Cannot hook eq to my receiver

The speakers will not sound right. You dont have two tape monitors on this receiver? You can simply use the tape otput to the EQ input, and then the Tape monitor input to the EQ output leads. Good Luck
