Samsung (SD-612) Internal DVD Drive Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jan 25, 2010

When I have a DVD or CD in my Samsung DVDW, I cannot get the tray to open after I stop the process I'm using the drive for. If I try to use the manual open- I find the disc is still spinning! i could find no information on this problem on the Samsung site.

THis is a problem that cropped up with windows XP. It happens once in a while, however you may be able to minimize this by making sure your connectors to your devices are on securely. You can also go to the device manager by right cllcking on your "my computer" icon. Go to the hardware tab and chose the device manager. Go to DVD and CD devices and uninstall your device. Restart your computer and it will scan for hardware changes and will probably install your CD/DVD drive back using the driver already in windows. If you can find an updated driver for your CD/DVD device from the Samsung site, you may want to install the new driver.

I hope that you find this information helpful. If I have helped you, please leave that feedback for me.

Thank You,

Brian

Windows 2000 and XP and Vista and 7 _all_ should recognize _all_ CD/DVD drives, automatically.

Check the electrical power connector.
If you push the open/close button, does it open/close the tray?

Check the "data" cable connector to the drive.
Check the "data" cable connector to the motherboard.

If the drive is a "parallel-ATA" drive, check the jumpers (MAster or SLave or CableSelect).

Try to connect the drive to a different computer.

If it is a "new" device (not a "used" device), return it to the merchant, for warranty repairs.

Samsung External Slim DVD-W USB Compatible with Mac and PC (SE-S084C/RSBN Burner) automatically upgrades the latest firmware version through internet.

Here is the samsung Official Product Support link. Firmware is available only only for Windows. Therefore i recommend that you connect you external drive with any other system with windows operating system and upgrade the firmware. Moreover, User's Manual and other related information and details are also available.

Also, try using CD/DVD ROM Cleaner because there may be some dust inside the drive that may prevent it from reading the disks.

Good Luck!
Hope this helps!

Start up BIOS and perhaps change default boot drive to your hard drive because i think your default boot up device is the dvd drive.... try to put that last on the list... F2 should get you to BIOS if not try F8 Just keep tapping right at beginning of startup before the logo screen shows. Once in BIOS go to boot menu and change default device :) Hope that works for you

Error with a TSST CD/DVDW TS-L532U.

Try uninstalling the device using device manager. Shutdown computer and restart. If the problem persists then you have a faulty DVD/CD drive.
Go to My Computer and right click, select the Device Manager, search for the drive on the right side. Right click and choose Uninstall. then restart. Hope this helps.

My DVD ROM does not burn some cd,when it tries to burn the tray opens its self.how do i stop the tray from opening and closing its self automatically

Either the CD is full or the quality of the CD is inadequate to burn it with your CD writer.

Try a good quality CD, or lower the writing speed and make sure it is an empty CD.
