You have to adjust the settings on the Monitor on a desktop. There should be some buttons you can push that will bring up the menu then you can adjust the screen left or right, up or down or expand it outward or bring it inward. It's all in the settings on the monitor so play around with it.
It sounds like the screen is bad. A quick search with the model number and "LCD Screen" will show you that it would be cheaper to purchase a new monitor.
If it was the back light it would be an easier repair. But you are saying it does not come on at all so that is telling me the screen itself is bad.
use a flahlight see if you can see an image faintly in the screen, if so the backlight is failing. if not, check your VGA or DVI cable connection on both ends. sometimes there is more than one port on the back of the computer, try the other port if you have two of them,
since your computer didnt recognize your monitor just add it manually ...if its an hp lcd screen hit the button above the power button on the monitor and it will auto adjust itself..if it still dont work go under control panel to monitors and add it.
The case has 2 plastic snaps en each side as well as 3 snaps at the top Use a flat-head screwdriver in the **** between the gray and black plastic. Twist the gray plastic away from the black plastic, and this will snap the part appart
Busta, Other than making sure all your connections are tight and the swift kick doesn't work anymore your monitor may be telling you its time is almost up. How old is it? Call compaq make a stink if it isn't too old.
Not what you wanted to hear. Good Luck,
Tim
