If your 2007 H3 Hummer suddenly stopped shifting into reverse gear, there could be several potential causes. Some common causes of a sudden loss of reverse gear include a failed reverse gear band, a damaged valve body, or a failed reverse gear solenoid. Additionally, low transmission fluid levels, a clogged transmission filter, or a damaged transmission pan gasket could also prevent the vehicle from shifting into reverse. It is recommended to have a professional mechanic diagnose the issue to determine the exact cause and provide the necessary repairs. They may need to perform diagnostic tests or inspect the transmission to pinpoint the issue.

Jan 2, 2014 - Is your automatic transmission giving you trouble or shifting too hard? ... It was a great idea to get your transmission fluid and filter changed and to keep .... I have 2014 chevy traverse, when you down shift and at the end of a gear ...... It mayalso be due to the 3rd gear shift solenoid going bad so that may be ...
The '02 Ford Escape doesn't have a transmission (automatic or manual transaxle) fluid filter or even a fluid pan to house one. The transmission is mounted between the drive axle and intermediate axle, directly below the yellow transmission fluid dipstick. No need to mess with it. Change your trans. fluid at the regular specified mileage. If the fluid on the dipstick is clear, it's good. If reddish or rusty or dark, change asap.
If that oil is transmission fluid, you may be low on fluid. That would cause harsh shifts. Make sure your transmission is full. Is it just reverse and drive that ****? Do second and third shift smooth? If so, you may have a too-high idle. If idle is good, and your transmission didn't get low on fluid, then I would suggest you drain and refill the transmission, and install a new transmission filter while you have the bottom pan off. Usually, you can buy a filter and pan gasket as a kit.
1. Extremely harsh shifts from P or N, normal shifts at WOT: EPC (Electronic Pressure Control) solenoid failed. Easy fix in pan. Fix as soon as possible or hard parts will eventually break. 2. Shift suddenly become very hard. When going from park to either reverse or drive it slams into gear. 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are also harsh. All gears seems to work. Problem may be intermittent: Check TPS for smooth electrical response. If the response is jumpy or erratic at all, replace TPS. There are two thing that may be happening that you have described, but you can tell which one it will be since your driving the Blazer. Both are simple to repaire, but to change the EPC. Your going to have to drop the transmission pan so that's going to be a transmission shop and call around, the EPC can be replace the same time there draining the transmission fluid when servicing the transmission which is about $110.00 for fluid and filter replacement and additional $65.00-$80.00 for the EPC valve. EPC (electronic pressure control) valveTPS (Throttle position sensor) Thank you for using Fixya and good luck. If it's the EPC failure, replace as soon as possible. may casue the sunshell to fractured or splines to sheared off.

All gears seems to work. Problem may be intermittent: Check TPS for smooth and linear electrical response over the entire range of motion. If not, replace.

No 1st or 4th available; trans shifts 2nd to 3rd by itself in D or OD and locks the converter : ShiftA solenoid failed. Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or PCM.
Car goes into gear but feels very sluggish like the brakes are dragging,
but it will roll easily (starts out in 4th gear), you manually shift to
2 to get it moving, once it's moving you put it back in OD and the car
shifts 3rd to 4th on its own and locks the converter at the appropriate
time: ShiftB solenoid failed: Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem

remove the pan on bottom of transmission drain fluid...remove filter,, easy to locate by looking at the new one you bought....reinstall pan and fill with transmission fluid.....you can try this step...if still accurs.. need to have someone scan the transmission module.. alot of scanners only scan engine computer.. make sure to scan transmission module.. if no codes be very weiry about transmission failure that line of cars has a very bad reputation for bad tranny
Most likely the o-ring seal between the torque converter and the transmission is going bad. Get that transmission rebuilt pronto before serious damage is done! But first, have a mechanic drop the transmission pan and look for signs of a very thin silvery film coating the inside of the pan. If found, then the transmission definitely will have to be rebuilt, and the torque converter will also have to be replaced since embedded metallic particles in the old torque converter will eventually come loose, due to wear of the clutch plates within the torque converter, and eat up the rebuilt transmission. Now, here is the deal once the transmission has been rebuilt:
Change the transmission fluid and filter once a year -- no matter what! If you do this, then you should never have any more problems with the transmission.
