Hi, if the unit is leaking and it looks as though it is coming from the PVC pipe, more then likely its leaking at the unit its self where the pipe connects. Water will run down the pipe and drip down line. Dry it off and put your hand around where the PVC pipe screws into unit. Unless the pipe is cracked, this is where the leak is. If the fitting is a male or female threaded PVC fitting and a piece of PVC pipe that goes to the drain, you can repair this very easy. Just cut the pipe near the fitting with a hacksaw. Unscrew the fitting that goes to unit. Go to a hardware store like Home Depot, take the old fitting with you and buy a replacement. Buy a coupling, a small can of clear PVC glue and a small can or tube of pipe dope to put on the fitting threads. Screw the fitting in first and make sure it has pipe dope on it, get it tight with pliers. Take the pipe and coupling and glue it on the pipe. Put glue on the other end and slide it in the fitting that was where it was leaking before. Hold it in place for a few seconds. Once you put the glue on, be ready to put it together as it drys super fast and you cant take it apart once it sets. Very easy to repair and the parts cost pennys. Keep me posted. You can do this and will learn about plumbing! Good Luck.

Frequent knocking noise coming from General Aire 1042 LH humidifier

Hello, it depends where the sound is coming from,if it's in the supply water line it could be caused by water hamer or the inlet side of the solenoid valve might be clogged up with sediment. Water hammer is when the solenoid closes under high water pressure and a water hammer arresters should be installed. If the sound is coming directly from the solenoid valve and is more of a chattering sound then there is a loose low voltage wire or the solenoid is going bad. If you disconnect the power to the solenoid and the chattering stops then solenoid must be replaced as it is the cause of the noise.

The clear plastic drainage tube that runs from our Aprilaire furnace humidifier into the basement floor appears to be clogged with brown gunk. How can we clear this line.

One way of removing the gunk is to disconnect the tubing from the humidifier and use a flexible and thin rod that will fit in the tubing and try to dislodge it, or you can try using a shop vac and see if the suction pressure will remove it. If the tubing is really clogged then sometimes it's better to just replace the vinyl tubing with pvc pipe and drain it to the floor drain, I always prever pvc pipe over vinyl tubing when it comes to drain lines for humidifiers.

Aprilaire 700 leaks water from bottom of case

Install new water panels yearly. On the new panel make sure that the painted dot on the edge of the panel is on the top when you install it.
Always clean the distribution tray and the frame. Make sure the notch on the edge of the distribution tray faces away from the furnace. Make sure the humidifier was installed level. Keep the drain tube opening clear. Insure there is no blockages in the drain tube.

Honeywell furnace humidifier thermostat & other

sounds like to me you have a condensation pump attached to your hvac system. this can be used to pump water produced during the cooling of your house when in the a/c mode. if you have a typical bypass humidifier, you will have excess water running past the water panel and it must be sent to a drain of some kind. I would imagine the pump is being used to get your bypass water to the drain. another scenario may be that you have a 90% condensing furnace. if your exhaust pipe for the furnace is made out of pcv pipe, it is a condensing gas furnace. it will produce water when it is running. the water if from the combustion gases being condensed in the secondary heat exchanger. this is normal. some condensing gas furnaces will draw combustion air from inside the house and some will have a second pvc pipe that is used to pulll combustion air from the outside of the house. either way, it is not dehumidifying your house. the humidifier should be able to keep up if it is runnng properly. you should have water running out the bottom drain of the humidifier any time the fan on your furnace is running and the humidistat is calling for humidity. if this is not happening, it is not wired properly.

General Humidifier Model 1042-L leaking water

Check the bottom of drain tube (tube connected to the bottom center of the bottom tray). Does water freely flow out the tube when the humdifier water feed is on?

If there is no flow from the tube and water is leaking from the bottom tray when the humidifier water feed is on then the tube or bottom tray is clogged with hardwater minerals or other material.

If the unit has not been used in a while it's possible a spider has take up residence by spinning a web in the bottom tray or tube.

The last poissible reason is the tray is cracked. You may order the tray from multiple sources on the web. Simply shop for model and price.

I have a General Humidifier Model 1042-L that is leaking water out of the bottom pan. How do I fix this?

Check the bottom of the drain tube (tube connected to the bottom center of the bottom tray). Does water freely flow out the bottom end of the tube when the humdifier water feed is on?

If there is no flow from the tube and water is leaking from the bottom tray when the humidifier water feed is on then the tube or bottom tray may be clogged with hardwater minerals or other material.

Also, if the humidifier has not been used in a long while it's possible a spider has take up residence by spinning a web in the bottom tray or tube. Tell the spider to find a new home.

Another possible reason is the tray is cracked. You may order the tray from multiple sources on the web. Simply shop for model and price.

And lastly, is the unit installed properly, parallel to the ground? If tilted, water flowing through the unit may catch the sides and flow out where it should not.

Water leaking out of bottom

A leaking humidifier is a sign that the unit's filter needs to be cleaned/changed. I had the exact same problem on this model.
