How do you raise the smooth cooktop on a frigidaire range?

1. Remove all items from cooktop and set aside.

2. Grasp the sides of the cooktop and then lift from the

to snap into place. The llft-up rods will support the

cooktop in the raised position.

4. If necessary, clean underneath using hot, soapy water

and a clean cloth; then dry.

5. To lower the cooktop, grasp the front corner of each

side of the top while pushing back on each rod with

the heel of your hand. This will release the notched

support. Hold the range cooktop and gently slide the
top back down level to the range.

I understand that you are seeking instructions in order to replace the cooktop on your Frigidaire range. However, this is not a simple DIY job. I would recommend having a professional technician come out to ensure that the range is properly disassembled and the cooktop installed correctly to prevent any future issues. look just call frigidaire and tell them it just cracked it has a five year warranty the tech don't care he gets his cash his pay for fixing it not being a frigidaire police man just tell him it cracked you don't know why they have a five year warranty could have already been cracked when you got it and you didn't know now couldn't it

To remove the main top first remove the grates,
burner caps and burners. Using a ¼” socket
wrench or nut driver remove the mounting
screws at each burner orifice assembly.

Insert a putty knife or similar tool between the
main top and manifold panel near the outside
of the front corner. Push the putty knife toward
the rear to release the maintop mounting clip.
Repeat for both sides.

When the mounting clips are released the front
edge of the cooktop can be lifted. Make sure
that the orifice assembly does not bind in the
cooktop when raising the top to remove it from
the range.

Lift the front of the cooktop and pull forward to
disengage the back edge from the rear hinge
bracket. The cooktop can now be replaced by
reversing the previous steps.

What holds the spring assembly onto the bar assembly is just two small prongs. Use a pliers on the end that protrudes through the bar, squeezing the prongs together, and it should come out fairly easily.

You can check the element from the switch on the control panel. Unplug the oven, remove the back and put an ohm meter on r1 and r2 terminals to check resistance. If it shows open then the element is bad. If it shows resistance then replace the switch. To remove the top there should be screws under the front part of the top which you can see when you lower the door then just lift up. You won't be removing just the glass.
