I just got this Monitor brand new on christmas day. It will work fine for a long time, but at seemingly random times it will lose signal, display a "No Signal" msg and then go to a black screen. At which time my power LED will change from green to amber. Usually re-booting will get it going again. But sometimes it will drop out again as soon as windows tries to load, and I will have to re-boot several times before it begins working again... Any ideas out there?
If you google this problem. you will find that acer monitors have this problem. They pretty much all do. Its an annoying problem but there is no fix. The only way to remedy it is to unplug the monitor and plug it back in when you get this error. pretty ghetto, huh?
I'm never buying another acer monitor again.
In my experience, symptoms like the one you describe are hardware related. My troubleshooting steps would go as follows:
1. Try a different monitor, and try your monitor on a different pc.
2. Try a different video card.
3. Try a different power supply.
In my opinion, the video card is likely at fault, but step one is a lot less trouble to try and get out of the way :)
Hi Eric,
Your post/description of "No Signal" and power LED changing from green to amber is indicative of just that - the monitor is not receiving any signal from the video card of the computer or the signal it is receiving is beyond its capability.
Just to verify that it is indeed the PC;'s setting that is the root of the problem and not an internal fault within the monitor, pls:
1. lower the screen resolution of your desktop's properties.
2. it may also be of help if you likewise lower the screen refresh rate.
Both of the above may be adjusted through the appropriate settings in your Display Properties.
If your concern has not been corrected after completion of the above procedures, pls post back details of your video card (brand/model), display properties settings: a) screen resolution, color quality and Advanced/Monitor screen refresh rate.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back as requested, how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FIXYA.

I have installed the latest drivers for my card and my monitor, and re-seated my video card. But the problem is still there., Thanx for the advice anyway...
I think it's inapropriate to call me an asshole! I'm just telling you that I have already tried that solution and it didn't work. It was the first thing that I did actually. I mean that is the most logical solution from a troublshooting point of view., Anyway I'll be reporting this as a TOS violation.
My resolution is set at 1280 X 1024 which is what my monitor is supposed to run at., The video card I am using is a 128MB Geforce 5500. But it seems like changing the refresh rate fixed the problem., ;-) It hasn't done it all day! Thanx for the quick advice., If the problem pops up again I'll let you know.,
Thanx again...
