To set the time: First set to Rate to "SET" then say for example the time is now 1:33 p.m. enter 13 then hit the decimal then enter 33 hit the decimal then hit the time key and you are set.

I managed to get the date, but I still don't know how to set the time. That's okay though because I don't need to time stamp my tapes. To be honest, I don't know what I did to finally get the time. First, I pushed the RESET button on the bottom of the calculator. Then, on the business side of the calculator, I set the GT . RATE SET button to RATE SET. Then I separated the month, day, and year by using the decimal point. But I don't know which key completed the sequence because I was trying so many keys. Since the date looked like 1.22-2010 while I was setting it, I never knew that I had actually accomplished it until I decided to give up. I cleared the calculator, hit the date/time key, and the date popped up looking like 1-22-2010. But it did not automatically print on the tape (like the one at the office does). So I hit the #/<> key and, voila!, it drew a dotted line from right to left and printed the date.
