My web cam is completely gone from my computer. I tried putting pictures in documents folder like one person said. I tried recovering the driver and when I do that it prompts me to insert camera usb. I DONT HAVE ONE! I'm getting irritated. why is the camera driver COMPLETELY gone from my computer?? I never changed anything or touched it even. and I can't find anyway to reinstall it. what a waste of money.

I had the symptom where ‘no camera found’ and the device not showing in device manager (unless you expose hidden devices, but was visable via non present hardware (exposed via system variable
devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1)
Solution – Disable and Enable USB Controllers
1. From Device Manager
2. Right click and uninstall the Standard Enhanced the Universal Serial Bus controllers -> Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller – do this for both via right click - uninstall.
3. Right Click <YourSystemName> from the top of Device Manager, Click Scan for Hardware Changes.
4. Your Acer Crystal Webcam should now back under Imaging Devices, and working again!
5. Strange but seems to fix it, good luck!
I also pressed the top of the laptop screen to the left and right of the camera at around the same time. Not sure if something clicked back into place, either way above is a simple thing to try... Hope this helps.
