Old Maytag Gas Dryer Model DG308. Brother in Law was trying to fix, now I got involved. Drum turns fine. The Gas would not come on. Ignitor lights then goes off. I replaced the three coils for the gas valve. THe replacements coils were different color wires than original. Still did not get gas. Flipped coils on there post and was able to get the gas to come on. But the flame never changed and it would shut down and restart light (cycle). I jumpered the High temp switch and the flame stays on. I got a new flame sensor but I compared it to the old and they both open (switch contacts) with a candle test. I have the front of the dryer off so the heat can blow in the drum and have not restriction. I also use a cheater cord to test the coils. The secondary coil clicks and the Holding and booster wire in parrallel click. Not sure what else to test.

Flipped the holding and booster 180 on it post? They are keyed so front to back mounting. Would the gas even flow if these did not energize?

You said you have the 3 coil set up. It has been my observance in the past that when replacing these dude if they are not stacked correctly the valve won't act right.

No heat in the dryer. It is Maytag Neptune gas dryer about 9 years old. The drum rotates just fine but heat stopped a couple of days ago.

Dryer does not heat

First thing to check is the ignitor underneath the drum. (You have to open the panel to see it) It should glow shortly after the dryer starts, then the flame starts and the ignitor shuts off. If the ignitor does not glow then it or the thermostat is bad. If the ignitor is glowing but the gas does not light then the flame sensor may have to be replaced. If the gas ignites but does not stay on either the flame sensor or the coils are at fault.
