The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default admin password.

Want a wireless connection

First you need to purchase a wireless router of your choice, select a well known brand.
Then connect the wireless router with a LAN cable to configure the router's wireless settings.
Then remove the LAN cable and connect the ADSL model to the wireless router WAN/Internet port with the LAN cable.
Some later model wireless routers have the Password(ie.Encryption key) and the SSID already configured in the wireless router andthis information is printed on a label on the bottom of the router.
These settings can be used to configure the wireless card and wireless adaptersin your computer/laptop.
If these settings do not suit you, then it can be changed to suit yourrequirements.
The encryption key secures your data and wireless connection from unauthorizedaccess. To configure the wireless settings in the router, connect a LAN cablefrom your computer to the wireless router, then open a Browser on your computerand enter the router's configuration IP address, then enter the admin login andpassword and then go to the wireless settings and configure the SSID andEncryption key.
The router's encryption key can be a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA or WPA2key.If you use the Passphrase method select either WEP or WPA or WPA2 togenerate the encryption key. You can enter the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key with 8 to63 ASCII characters or 64 Hex digits.
Most people use Passphrase which is easier to remember eg. I was born inJanuary 1988.
The strongest and latest security is WPA2, the weakest and oldest is WEP. To connect to your wireless router from the computer/laptop,configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wirelesssettings ie SSID, plus the WPA or WPA2 encryption key. Then computer/laptopscan communicate with your wireless router.

Not able to find wep code to connect my lap top to internet

Hello,
If you require the WEP key for the wireless network you will have to log in to the router interface and retrieve it. You can try the following steps..
1) Open internet explorer on any computer connected wired to the router. ( IF no computer is connected then connect your laptop through an Ethernet cable to the LAN slot on the router) 2) Delete everything from the address bar and type http://192.168.2.1 and hit enter. 3) Towards the left side under wireless click on security. 4) Now it will ask for the login password, do not type anything..just hit enter. 5) Now you will be in wireless security page. You should see Key 1, Key 2, Key 3 and Key 4. The check mark selected on either of the four with number or numbers and letters in it are the password. Make a note of it. 6) Now connect to the wireless network using the keys u made a note of.
Hope this helped.

Cannot connect to wifi

i had the same problem with my sisters eeepc so this is what i did

1. if u can: connect the eeepc to your router (internet box) using the Ethernet cable. the local area connection should then connect automatically if not connect through the network program on Linux.

2. if you are connected go to settings tab and then add or remove software

3. wait for the eeepc to find the new software (may take a bit of time), once it has found all new possible updates go to the settings tab in the add/remove software program and scroll down until you find Wireless update/patch or something similar.

4. click install and the ok, it will then dowload the new update (don't take long) and install it

5. once the update has completed it will ask you to reboot the eeepc do this and when you log back on click on the wireless network icon

6. find your SSID and enter any security and whatever

7. you should be online after that
