Talkback on a cobra 200 gtl dx

I got a cobra 200gtl dx and would like to take the talkback out of it so i could use a power mic on it with the ehco could anyone tell me what wire to cut in this radio to disable the talkback in it

    i not so much wanting to use a power mic but i do want to find a way to take the talkback out would like to know where inside of the radio is the wire to take the talkback out ...............kj4bkp dwayne

    Why would you want to use a power mic on this radio??? Properly tuned Ive seen these radios put out 170 to 200 watts!!Get an Astatic 636L Noise cancelling Mic youll be much happier.....Dean

Don't buy this radio or the 150 if you have had a trouble with these unit join the crowd that has . start a list of people that have had trouble for a class action lawsuit . cobra knowingly sold these radios knowing they had a problem.

This procedure is not as simple as just cutting a wire. Note that you can possibly mess your radio up if any maintenace is not done properly. I do suggest taking your radio to a proffesional to have the talkback removed, but, if you really want to do it yourself, go to ghe following link and basically reverse what has been done.

This is the service bulletin for the addition of talkback to the Cobra 150GTL DX and the Cobra 200GTL DX.

As long as the talkback was added correctly, this can be put back origional.

My name is kyle my cobra 200gtl face"nightwatch"plate went out.. yes i had it tested.. the cb shop say he dosn't have any in stock.. where can i get one?
You can check out e-bay. I have seen them on there. You can Google Cobra200 GTL Night Watch faceplate this though. I have done this before. Google CB shop. Don't matter where they are and see if they have a 200 GTL Night Watch face plates (both pieces) in a parts radio laying around. You may be surprised. Let me ask this, what went out on the faceplate? The cord or the leds? You can buy leds that change just like that on the net and simply replace them. Good luck to you. They are pretty radios and who can go wrong with Cobra?

Cobra 200GTL: Clarifier affects TX
Unfortunately, most people look to unlock the clarifier in radio's it is locked in.

From what I understand it is possible to lock it in that radio, however I do not know it because I usually unlock it in my radio's.

I also did a search, and asked a few people I know who are also very good with radio's and they do not know either. The only thing I found was this, and you have to pay this shop to do it.

WANT TO ADD TALKBACK IN A RADIO
A 200 ohm 1-watt resistor across pins 1 & 4 of the mic jack will make some talkback. More or less resistance will make less or more talkback. Note the association of less and more.

they have a surface mount audio driver transistor. if replace with a to-220 version normally the warbling will go away. same for the 200gtl

Cobra 200gtl High Power Transmit problem??
Depending on the type of power supply, radio frequency (RF) energy from the transmitter may be 'fooling" it into thinking that you're overloading it. Check to see if there's any discernible dimming of the meter lamp when this problem occurs, if so, the supply is the culprit.

Otherwise, its probable that the final amplifier transistors are overheating, either they are 'leaky' or not properly attached to the heat sink.
