If the monitor is going into sleep mode the normal power led will change to another color. This indicates loss of video signal or possible out of range resolution. If the picture goes dark and the power lite stays on, you have a backlight malfunction. It can be bad capacitors causing an inverter power fault or it may have worn out backlights causing a shutdown condition. Monitor Mike
problem with the main board inside of the DS Lite. Its not staying on with the voltage being provided. To verify this. Plug your DS Lite into a working outlet and see if it stays on.
If it doesn't stay on then take the battery out and only hook up the ac adapter to it and see if it stays on.
At that point if it doesn't stay on, try to use another AC Adapter to see if it stays on, if it doesn't then you know for sure the main board is bad and you would need to get a new ds lite.
If the back was off the board on the left is your Ysus board. It will have a cable plugged into the right side of the board from the signal board. Unplug the the Ysus board. If it stays on without a picture change both Y and Z sustain boards. If this helps let me know.
Most likely the 2 470uF capactitors in the power supply have leaked and partially shorted. If you have those replaced it should power up fine. The symptoms will be the green power light will come on and the backlight tubes will light up for about 1 sec then the entire monitor will shut off.
