Will not start. i get a pulsating cross that will not go away

Unit will not start I have tomtom shape and flashing white cross on red circular background

I had this same exact issue, i tried restoring and got a copying error, uninstalled every third party thing i ever installed, and i reset the device many times. alternatley i thought to manually reformat and reinstall the software but i dont have rights permission apparently. i no longer have the flashing "X" i have what looks to be a harddisk in the bottom left corner flashing?

hi. i suggest to try a soft reset first. go tomtom.com select support search for reset select softreset select your device do as told when this is not enough search in tomtom for start up and read wht to do.
