The following are the advantages if you upgrade the firmware: New features; of V1.60 for Motif XS series 6,7,&8
-Normalize, Slice, and Remix have been added to the Sampling Edit display and Sampling Main display respectively, allowing you to more easily call up these displays.
-You can now increase the available memory of the DIMM by using the newly added Sampling Job.
-You can now convert a Sample Voice to a Mixing Voice.
-You can now edit a Drum Voice in the Mixing mode.
-TAP is now available in the Voice/Performance/Song/Pattern mode.
-Network function now supports Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.6 .
- From this new version, "meas" cannot be selected on the SAMPLE Record display in the Song or Pattern mode when the MIDI Sync is set to "MTC."
Check if the Mbox2 has an echo setting that echos the audio from its input. If you want the audio to loop through the PC then it will have to echo there instead. Check that in "Sound and devices" of the PC are all set to transfer via the MBox for voice and playback instead of the internal PC audio system.
It is not clear whether you are recording audio or MIDI. If you recorded Audio samples, you will get the same sounds back even if you change the voice on the keyboard.
If you record a MIDI sequence, and then play it back you will STILL get the same sounds UNLESS you also record the MIDI voice or patch changes so the voice is changed as it occured when you recorded it. Usually there are options taht you can enable or disable voice changes.
I'm having the same problem. This is my second MPC 1000 and my first one didn't have this problem. I bought one of the first one-thousand MPC 1000's sold in the US. I loved it. I sold it for rent, boo hoo. I'm glad to have another one back in my life. But sad to see it having issues already. I've only had it for a week. I have emailed Akai regarding this issue. I'll post pack here if they give me a good fix.
Try asking these guys( they'll help even if you didn't purchase there):http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MPC2500 Also I'd recommend joining this forum:http://www.mpc-forums.com/
This usually means your digital buffer overloads. When you have added several layers on to a sound it can be to much. Try to sample the sound again. If it comes back try to take the sample in a lower bitrate. Maybe your maybe can not keep up with the bitrate.

Have you checked it out from the manual. If you have get in touch with www.akai.com and ask them. they are the manufacturer and YOU ARE THE CUSTOMER.
Good Luck
If your turntables use ceramic cartridges, you'll need to use a passive interface box that converts the unbalanced ( RCA ) plugs from the turntable to balanced ( 1/4" T-R-S ) plugs to connect to your MPC1000's stereo line inputs. If your turntables have magnetic cartridges, you will need an active phone preamp, check the music retailers catalogs or on-line there are many makes and models.
If you want to mix the two turntables ( sequeing from one to the other and back continuously as in a DJ setup ), you'll need a small DJ mixer.
Hope this helps.
