I HAVE A HP OFFICE JET 5610XI ALL IN ONE PRINTER IT WORKED FINE. I ATTEMPTED TO FAX AND IT ACTED NORMAL BUT THE FAX WAS NOT RECEIVED I TRIED AGAIN NO LUCK RAN A TEST IT PASS YET IT STILL WON'TFAX THANK YOU

What speed do you have it set for? Try 9600 and see what that does.

Hello there, Suggest you confirm the phone line (The one going to the wall...) is plugged into the phone line port labeled -1-Line- and not -2-Ext- 1-Line is the outer most one of the two on the back of the machine.

If it's in the wrong port the device to act in the manner you discribed.

The scanner function is not available when you are connected wireless, you must be connected via USB to your PC for the scanner to function correctly.

If the recipient side is ringing, then the problem is on their end. It sounds like the receiving fax is not set for auto-answering a fax call. A receiving fax machine should pick up and start to attempt the reception even if the fax number is dialed from a normal voice-only telephone; the receiving machine has no idea if the caller is a fax or a regular phone. It should pick up regardless and start to negiotiate the fax (that's the high-pitched whistling sound at the beginning of the call).

try to check the fax recieve settings don't enable the junk fax option and change the paper size to A4

Try with a new USB cable. You never know...

the 5610 will send & recive with comcast try to do the test from the unit itself. Try to send a test fax to HP 1-888-473-2963 it will send you a return fax

Make sure phone line goes to correct socket into fax ie into line not phone or ext. sockets.

Off hook means receiver is lifted from cradle, should vanish when you put phone down.

Connect normal phone to same place you are trying to plug fax into I bet it is engaged too, if so it because you have a phone line problem, call carrier.
