I visited sony's web sent in my letter abt. defective ccd. they sent back a comment abt how they would take it under advisment and would get back to me in a few. Well I still haven't heard back from them. Is there a phone # I can personally talk to a rep. or a direct web site. Still no working camera or a place to send it.

I have a Sony DSC-F717 camera. It was in storage for something like a year, when i turned it on it produced no image through the view finder or the LCD screen. HELP!?

  • Anonymous Jun 11, 2008

I had this issue a couple of years ago and Sony repaired it for me w/o cost. It took a while but they repaired it w/o hassle. I was very pleased. The exact problem has just occurred again however and I am hoping it will be repaired yet again. If they repair your just know it may not be a "forever" fix.

I haven't been able to use my Sony DSC-F717 for about a year now. There is no image except the settings on the view finder and the screen. plus I can not get the battery charge.

  • Anonymous Mar 10, 2009

The CCD imager is bad if your screen is dark or distorted, and Sony DOES have a factory recall but if you do the on-line chat, beware, they wont mention it and they will try to get you to send it in and pay $231.00. I stumbled on to the recall here, then I called and bitched them out. Act fast, they state the recall is only good till March 31, 2009.

Go to this link on Sony's website

Follow the instructions for determining if your camera is eligible for the free repair. This offer is good only until September 2008. I would not have known about this if it weren't for this forum. I was never contacted by Sony.
I was just about to get after my son thinking he must have messed with my camera!

I have a sony DSC-F717, and when i take pictues, the white colors on the image come out pink and other types the picture has like a green shadow over the picture.

Symptoms shows its start-up of CCD Imager problem in DSC-F717 and in few days, CCD Imager will not give picture data to camera circuit. CCD Imager is part which converts image in electronic signal and that signal / data goes to camera circuit for further process.
Sony will repair CCD Imager problem in DSC-F717 free of cost. Check Sony CCD Imager Support for details.
