I have a sony e-reader 505. I tryed to download a book.it gives me error 2027,can you help me,please.

From where are you downloading these ebooks.
It sounds like they are not compatable with your Sony.

I have a Kindle and I can not download from Barnes & Noble because ththeir Nook has a different format.

The error -474 or -1106 sometimes occurs after an issue with validation or authorization in the Reader (eBook) Library software.

From the Reader (eBook) Store, deauthorize the computer.
Close the Reader (eBook) Library software.
Reopen the Reader (eBook) Library software.
Sign in to the account to authorize the computer again.
Try again to download a book purchased previously from the Reader Store.
If the error still occurs, proceed with the steps below:
Install the Adobe Digital Editions software. Use the installer at http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions.
Setup Assistant will be displayed in the Adobe Digital Editions program.
Click the Authorize button and then the Finished button.
Deauthorize the computer using Adobe Digital Editions
NOTE: Press Ctrl-Shift-D to deauthorize the computer.

Reopen the Reader Library.
Go to the Reader Store and sign in.
You will now be able to download an eBook and transfer it to the Reader device.

If issue persists, deauthorize the computer, then follow the steps below.

Browse to http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/ and download the software.
please sign in with the Adobe ID and password when prompted .
Now, click on the "Activate" option and close the Adobe Digital Editions Software
Reopen the Reader Library software.
Sign in to the Reader Store.
Try again to download a book purchased previously from the Reader Store.

Please perform the above steps and that should resolve the issue.

Just spent 2.5 hours figuring on this out with a Mac. Sony customer support was TOTALLY worthless. Finally figured out my PRS-505 firmware was not up to date. This is a problem because there is no indication of a firmware update on the Mac support page since you cannot update the firmware using a Mac. Out of desperation I checked the Windows updates and there it was - the firmware update that was needed to make this work. I took a chance and updated it on Windows 7 using Parallels and it FINALLY WORKS. Days like this I wonder why the hell I gave up paper books. Here hoping that Apple can make a decent tablet so Mac users are not 2nd class citizens in the eBook world. Unh. What a way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Connect the Reader to the Computer using the supplied USB cable and check whether it is charging,. If it's charging , then keep it connected from at least 4 hour to get it fully charged. If its fully charged, perform a soft reset. To soft reset, just press the RESET button. After soft6 resetting charge it for at least 4 hours., That should resolve the issue. All the best! !
