When pressing number on laptop its showing characters

From your description I must assume that if all other keyboard functions and keys work properly then the keyboard is faulty. For the number keys to print the upper case characters shown on those keys requires a shift key to be depressed or stuck. If all other keys work properly, replace the keyboard. Otherwise look for a stuck shift key. I have found keyboards for sale on Ebay.

Audio fades as soon as I start using the keyboard.especially if i have to use the shift key

Sounds like there maybe a key that is stuck down or something. I looked up hot keys to see what button it may be, but I have no idea here is what I was looking at Windows 8 Accessibility Options
Try cleaning out your keyboard. maybe something sticky got in it.

What are sticky keys My shift will not work and I keep getting a message about sticky keys

Hi

Please try to press both the shift keys at the same time
this may disable the sticky keys and return the keyboard to normal

this quite often happens when you hold the shift key down for longer than 8 seconds or more

many thanks

- key does this: '-' and when I hold shift and do this _ it does this. "_

That's how it's suppose to be. When you press the hyphen (-) you get a hyphen(-) and when you hold shift and press the hyphen(-) you get an underscore(_).
If what you really mean is they are reversed or behaving funny you might have sticky keys on. To turn off sticky keys go in to Control Panel > Ease and Access Center > "Make the keyboard easier to use" and make sure sticky keys is unchecked.
If this is not the issue or you need more assistance feel free to comment back.

My shift keys keep sticking down and move around like something is either broken under the key or, it just has something sticky down in it. My question is wich screws in the back do I unscrew to...

Hi!
Keys are designed to be removable from the front, you just have to be careful.
Get a flatheaded screwdriver and stick it under the shift key then gently (!) start pulling up. When you feel that it clicked out the lift it up gently and remove the small wire supporting it (note not all keyboards have it).
When you're done cleaning it just stick it back.
Good luck!

Im not sure what happened but a sticky key caption appeared on my screen and i just deleted but since then when i hit shift key to get symbols and the AT sign it wont work and its frustrating when trying...

You've turned on Windows' "sticky keys", one of the accessibility options. Pressing the Shift key 5 times in a row activates it. Sticky keys lets you type key combinations (Shift-x, Ctrl-Shift-x, Alt-x, etc.) one key at a time. It's for people who have trouble holding several keys down at once. Press the Shift key again 5 times to bring the sticky keys dialog box back and turn off the function. You can also disable it permanently in the Control Panel's accessibility settings program.

Shift key not working

You have 2 Shift keys on the keyboard. If the other shift key is working then the shift key that is not working is defective. You should consider replacing the keyboard on your laptop. There is no setting on Windows that can disable the shift key.

**Note : If both Shift keys are not working, Try to check if sticky keys feature on windows is on. Sticky keys should be disabled. To disable sticky keys, Click on start and Go into control panel > Accessibility Options, and under keyboard there is sticky keys. Remove the tick and click apply and OK.

**If "Use Sticky Keys" is unchecked, that means sticky keys is disabled.
