GE Potscrubber disher - water leaks out while filling
GE Potscrubber disher - when the water comes in sometimes (very intermittently) the water overflows out all over the floor. There seems to be some sort of switch with a debris gaurd in front left side in tray bottom, and if I bang on that it seems to work again... but every so often it spills all over the floor again. Is thaty a float switch of some sort and can I replace it?
Re: GE Potscrubber disher - water leaks out while filling
I would try removing the cover and make sure the float isn't sticking. On mine the float pushes on a rod that goes through the tub to a micro switch. When you hit it, it probably frees it up for a while. Hope that helps.

Check your wash arms, and make sure the holes are not plugged. Also make sure they are free to turn. Next, remove the toe-kick panel, and look for leaks or signs of leakage. Sometimes (especially if your tile floor doesn't go all the way back), dishwashers will leak most of their water out and you never know it! Other simpler things is to make sure you are not blocking the soap dispenser with large pans or plates.
first try to look and see where the water is coming from,,,the bottom of the unit,,,,or the front of the unit...remember the door has a seal all the way around it and it has to seal correct and make sure the latch is all the way in lock postion
Thanks for using
FixYa. First of all please check the Water temperature by using a thermometer
inside the dishwasher to measure the water temp. It should be as close to 125
degree F to 140 degree F as possible. Now try using the temperature boost feature
if your dishwasher is equipped with this cycle feature and check if this will
help your wash ability issues.
Now check the
Powder soap by making sure that you store your soap in a dry environment and it
is not stale and clumping together. Possibly try a different detergent like a
liquid or gel. Also, make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is
To check the
proper filling dishwasher will fill with water up to and around the heating
element. If water is more below the heating element, you may have low water
pressure or a problem with the fill valve. Try & listen if it sounds like
it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.
For low water
pressure, try to clean the screen at the entrance of the fill valve, sometimes
the fill valve can fail and not allow the proper water into the dishwasher and
may need to be replaced. And, check the spray arm and pump cover for
splits or leaks. Also make sure that the water is draining and is
not accumulated in the dishwasher, if it is in dishwasher then check
for clogged drain hoses and drain pump.
Low water fills
are a very common trouble maker with today's dishwasher.

GE 720 Potscrubber I started with the water puddling in bottom now it progressed to leaking on the floor. I had a repair guy come to my home yesterday and he says a broken seal and my total cost to replace seal and labor is $165 plus tax.
What is the life expectancy? He did not sound too promising about the future of my dishwasher and said he is certain there will be another repair need shortly something related to the water saturating an area underneath the dishwasher?
He reccomended I call Sears and replace with a Whirlpool product. He claimed he put his kids thru college repairing GE products. My husband wants to repair and I dont because of fear of spending more money!
