Take out your ice bin the look in the back of the freezer and ytou will see a small hole with a plastic sqaure actuator.hold the door switch closed and make sure the unit is selected for cubed ice then try and dispence ice if the swaure plastic acuator moves up it is working fine it shoeld drop down when you release the dispencer arm.if it dropps back down then make sure that the metal bail arm is properly inserted into the hole in the auger case when that actuator moves up this opens the small plastic door on the ice bin to allow subed ice to come out.make sure there is no ice build up on the ice bin that would stop the trap door from opening.good luck with you fridge i hope this helps you out,let me know how thing s go for you.

Ge refrigerator sise by side tfx274 ice maker only gives crushed ice and no cubes

you have bad solenoid, it is a small part next to the motor behind the ice bucket. It lifts up the arm to let the cubed ice out of the dispenser bucket.

Fridge Freezer model KA58NP90 Ice maker problem

What is most likely your problem is the crushed ice solenoid. This solenoid, which is located next to the auger motor behind the ice bucket, is failing to actuate when you request cubed ice. Its "home" setting is crushed, and actuates to allow cubes past the crushing mechanism in the bucket. To be certain its the problem, remove the ice bucket, and tape the door light switch in the closed position. actuate the ice dispenser lever, for both cubed and crushed ice. you will see a square hole next to the rotating fork, when you select cubes, it should open. If it does open, there is something wrong with your ice bucket, perhaps the arm is broken, or the door inside bucket is off its snap in type hinge or broken altogether. If it doesnt open, replace the solenoid

Ice maker crushes ice will not extrude cube cubes

Your ice bin is out of alignment. Pull the ice bin all the way out and re-insert it and make sure it locks in place. When you re-insert the bin, look underneath the bin. You will see a metal rod. It must go INSIDE the yoke at the rear of the freezer, NOT under the yoke and NOT over the yoke. In the yoke.
This is a common problem and will happen again. The ice bin has a way of dislodging itself. If the rod is not in the correct position you get crushed ice regardless of the setting.

Ice maker only makes crushed ice, no cubes I have the same problem... The same switch works fine for the crushed ice and water setting but will not dispense cubed ice. It only gives crushed.

hi.
I slid out the tray, found the lever in the back where the rod went in, pulled it down, reinserted the ice tray, and IT WORKED! At first I thought I broke the lever, because I had to hold it down with a knife while I was inserting the tray, but it just must have been stuck.

There is an opening next to the auger that dispenses the ice. In there there is a lever that must move up and down. It actually seats the metal rod on the bottom of the ice maker and controls cube or crushed. Make sure the lever is down (cube position) when you return the basket to the freezer. I had to hold it down while I slid the rod into the opening. Cubes again. http://www.applianceblog.com/mainforums/showthread.php?t=783

Ice maker only dispenses crushed ice, won't dispense cubed ice anymore.

I have a GE TFX25ppbaaa refrigerator. The ice maker corkscrew motor would run and provide crushed ice only. The corkscrew motor would not run when the switch was moved to the cubed ice ( half moon) setting.

I replaced the large Light/ water/ crushed ice/cubed ice switch , ( product service number GEH WR55X129 ) ( part number GE 162D6372 PO17 )and it fixed the problem. Cost was about $43.00.

Crushed ice only

Behind the ice bucket is a metal housing that holds the auger motor and solenoid.  The solenoid is bad.  When you go for cubed ice that solenoid should pull up the metal rod on the ice bucket so full cubes will come out.  First check to make sure the metal rod on the ice bucket isn't somehow caught under the solenoid and not letting if move up and down.  You can take out the ice bucket and press for cubed ice.  You should hear a loud clunk noise.  If not then you know the solenoid is not working.
