I have had to reset my TCL 55inch as it keeps resetting itself and now my channels won't come back on even though I have done a channel search and it's showing 170 channels but the screen is black

Is the picture ok when it's on?

Try to do a system reset and check if it fix the issue and check below video:

else if the TV is under it's warranty period you can always ask the seller / dealer to fix or replace if it can't be fixed.

Fault with main board. Damaged component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced.

This problem unfortunately very common on these TV sets..
As far as I examine the case ,I believe a component on the circuit board is not properly working..
Either there is cold soldering on the board or a dead capacitor may cause this.
Sorry but Your TV needs service..I hope you still have warranty to cover this..

I have a LG PC1DV Plazma and every now and then the picture will freeze, the sound continues on and you cannot change channels. the only way to un freeze is to turn off tv wait 30 sec then turn back on and...

Contact your LG dealer & have someone call to check the software version currently used by the TV. It may need updated as there is an issue for picture freeze, if this is ok there could be a problem with the signal strength of your signal, if this drops then it will also cause the picture to freeze, in which case you would need to have your aerial checked.

TV freezes when switching to a digital channel

The problem your describing can be contributed to your cable box. Depending on your cable company there are times when the box has trouble translating the signal to the tv. You tv is operating normally. Suggest to the cable company to switch your box.

your TV is having problem in the power supply area or th secondary power supply where the micro processor is situated.take it to a qualified techn to be repaired.

Does this happen with both the buttons on the TV and the remote?

If it is just the remote then it could be a remote problem, or the IR receiver on the television.

If it is both the buttons and the remote then let me know the model number and I will dig into it and see if there is something easily serviced.

That indicates a more serious problem that should probably be repaired by a JVC service center. If you can find the model number send it over to me and I will look into what is involved to fix it.
