I imagine Tape 2 has a corresponding switch on the front panel of the receiver to monitor it.

The rear panel Tape 2 conenctor will look something like Record (Out) / Play (In). Similarly, on the EQ will be an RCA pair of connectors something like Preamp In / Amp Out.

Run a pair from the Ins of one device to the Outs of the other. Select Tape 2 on the receiver to hear the effects of its actions.

The EQ will probably have a switch that selects monitoring the Line (signal from the receiver) or Tape (attached to the EQ). The EQ will have its own Tape 1 (maybe 2) for connection of Tape Deck(s) or other processor(s). On its front panel will be controls to monitor it (them) and for placing the EQ logically in front of (Record) or behind (Playback) those devices.

Word of caution: until you have this all connected exactly right and are comfortable with how it interacts with your recever, ALWAY TURN YOUR VOLUME DOWN TO A SAFE LOW SETTING, prior to selecting or deselecting any Tape Monitor. Whatever you do, don't run the volume up in frustration because you can't hear the desired program and then suddenly flip the right switch only to blow up your speakers from the sudden appearance of LOUD music.

Circuit diagram for audio reflex#eq-2

1
Hook up your equalizer to your receiver if it does not have preamp-out channels. The equalizer should always be between the receiver and the amplifier. Your amplifier will need integrated preamp-out and preamp-in connections to work with this method.
2
Purchase 2 pairs of RCA cables. To run a signal from your stereo receiver to the equalizer and back again, you'll need 2 sets of RCA cable (the same kind that is usually used to connect source components like turntables and CD players).
  • The length of the RCA cables should match the length of the distance between the receiver and the equalizer.
3
Connect one pair of RCA cables between the receiver and equalizer. Connect one pair of cables to the tape monitor output channels on the receiver and the other end of the cable to the left and right channel inputs on the equalizer.
  • You will usually find these channels on the rear of the equalizer.
4
Connect the other pair of RCA cables between the receiver and equalizer. Connect the other pair of cables from the output channels on the back of the equalizer to the tape monitor input channels on the back of the receiver.
  • Right channel jacks will usually take the red colored RCA plug while left channel should take white or black RCA plugs.
5
Use your equalizer. Turn on the receiver and switch the front panel output control to the "Tape Monitor" setting. This opens the tape monitor channels and means that the sound will travel through your equalizer before being sent to the amplifier. Adjust the equalizer knobs according to your preferences.
  • You should now be able to manipulate the controls on the equalizer to change the frequency response or tone of your music.
  • To switch on the "Tape Monitor" setting you should depress the button on the front panel of the equalizer.
  • If you have a tape deck connected to the tape monitor channels then you will have to remove this before connecting your equalizer.

How to hook up a 7 band pioneer equalizer great 470 to a Kenwood kr-v6030 receiver

Connecting an Equalizer to a Receiver Before beginning, purchase RCA cables. In order to run the signal from a stereo receiver to the graphic equalizer and then on to the amplifier, two sets of RCA cables are needed. These are basic cables used to connect auxiliary components like record players and CD players. The length of the RCA cables should be about the same length as the distance between the receiver and equalizer.

1. Connect Graphic the Equalizer to the Receiver

The first step in this setup is to connect the graphic equalizer (EQ) to the receiver. Most receivers will have preamp-in and preamp-out connections. Some have tape monitor connections. It's preferable to connect the EQ to the preamp-in or preamp-out because the tape monitor won't allow for connection to the amplifier as well.

2. Connect the RCA Cables

The first set of RCA cables should connect the receiver and equalizer. Connect one pair to the preamp output channels and the other end to the left and right input channels on the EQ. These are on the back side of the equalizer. Usually, the colors will correspond to the RCA plugs. That means connect the red plug to the red jack and the white plug to the white jack. Then connect the second pair of RCA cables between the receiver and the amp. Match the colors in the same way.

3. Connect the Amp to the Receiver

Now the amp can be connected to the receiver via RCA cables in the amp inputs on the receiver. This will create a loop from the receiver through the EQ and amp and back to the receiver so that all three units are connected.

4. Test Graphic Equalizer

Turn on the receiver, amp and equalizer. Once they are powered up, try controlling the sound with the equalizer knobs. They should fine tune the music according to your preferences. It's easy to change the frequency response or tone of the music with the equalizer knobs.

ME SONY MODEL NO, IS TAF246E IT IS A STERO AMPLIFER IN THE BACK OF IT ,IT HAS APLUG THE DOES NOT PLUG INTO THE WALL OUTLET NO.5A250 IS SHOWING AND BS1363/AFOLLOWS HOW DO I PLUG THIS UNIT TO MY TUNER,CD...

Most TV's have a line out plug which should plug to a line in plug on your tuner/receiver via RCA cables which have a tulip jack on both ends. In most cases the cables should plug into the video line in plugs on your receiver for audio(usually the red and white ones are audio the yellow is composite video). Some older receivers may not have a line in for specifically for video. If this is the case using line in from tape 2 will also work(or any other line in except phono). Once the RCA jacks are plugged from the TV to the receiver correctly just select the device the TV is assigned to with the receiver.
Some TV's also have a line in and can get audio from different sources reciever, tape deck,VCR, to do this plug the line out plug from your reciever/device to the line in on the TV and just reverse the process. Some newer TV's/audio systems have HDMI which uses one integrated plug for both audio and video(digital) with these the same rules apply.

I have a 2 tuner tv. When Cablevision installed my digital cable box, I lost the 2 tuner capability. Is there a special way it needs to be hooked up to get back the 2 tuner capability?

Your cable system is probably QAM (digital cable). The tuners built into the TV are analog and digital OTA tuners (ATSC and NTSC). If you connect the Cablevision box to the component video input (and connect the audio out of the box to the appropriate audio in) on the TV and an appropriate antenna to the coax (antenna) input, you will be able to swap use the tuners in the TV. (See tvfool.com for antenna types and direction or antennaweb.org for directions of the most likely stations to be received at your location. antennaweb assumes an external antenna and is conservative in the list it provides.)

I hope this helps.

(please note, you probably need to get the component video cables. These have 3 RCA plugs on each end (red, green and blue). To carry the audio you need a cable with 2 RCA plugs on each end (red and white). Match the colors as you connect them.)

Connecting Powered Subwoofer to a Receiver

you will need a line-level converter to use this subwoofer- it is a rectangular-shaped box with wires coming out on one end and red-and-white RCA plugs one the other. The end with the wires coming out will hook to the receiver, and the other end will need to plug into the sub.

Cd stero wiring help

Hi,

To my knowledge, the illumination wire need not be connected to the JVC KD-G230. Further, other than the 8 speaker wires, the JVC has only:
  • black - body ground;
  • yellow - always on B+12
  • red - ACC/IGN B+12
  • blue w/ white stripe - external amp trigger and/or power antenna
Perhaps this might be of further help to you.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Set up

The red and white plugs are audio - they should go to one of the receiver's inputs.

The yellow plug is composite video - if your receiver has a yellow jack, plug it into the receiver (this will let you switch inputs from the receiver), if not, plug it into your TV.

Same goes for your tape deck, though it won't have a video output.

Set-up wireless karaoke Mic.

I can't seem to find any technical details on the output specifications of the karaoke mic, but IF it outputs in consumer standard RCA format (a cable with two ends, one red and one white - often seen with a third yellow cable for video), then you should be able to plug it into the back of the receiver without trouble. Simply choose one of the audio connectors in the back to function as your microphone playback system - I suggest the DBS connector, unless you have a satellite system already plugged in.

Connect the Red RCA cable to the RIGHT channel port on your receiver and the White RCA cable to the LEFT channel (Red = Right). Now, select the DBS (or whatever port you plugged it into) using your receiver remote control. Hit the "ANALOG/DIGITAL" button on the remote until "ANALOG" mode is displayed.

If you want to connect the mics to a Karaoke system using the same receiver, simply unplug the White RCA cable from the Microphones, and plug in the White RCA cable from your karaoke device. Now, you'll get music playing from one side of the speakers, and mic playback from the other side, simulating the karaoke experience.

NOTE: If the microphones do not have a RCA plug on the back, please post a picture of the reverse of the Microphone receiver, and I will see what I can do to help you further.
