Model no. wmk300 power Light comes on but it doesn't heat up. 1-508-238-9917 N. Easton,Ma.02356

  • Anonymous Nov 27, 2012

I replaced the fuse as instructed but my unit is still not heating up. I have the red power light, but the green light is very intermittant and flickers when i move the waffle irons. I remember that when it failed a small stream of smoke came from the unit but i'm unsure if it originated at the irons or in the base. Any help??

Just fixed mine with info found on hear. If you're a little handy or have someone who is it's a simple fix. Under bottom plate a thermal fuse is connected in black wire under white insulation. I picked one up at radio shack (http://www.radioshack.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=thermal%20fuse&origkw=thermal%20fuse&sr=1) got the 228 dgree C. I **** insulation and removed. I then cut black wire at connection at each side. I then placed new fuse in line and crimped small connectors on each side. Placed insulation back on and taped up. Screwed back together and it worked fine. Fuse cost $1.69. To think I almost tossed it.

Thanks for the repair information. I picked up the recommended fuse at a local Radio Shack and used some crimp connectors with the plastic removed. Only problem I had was I cut the insulator sleeve to get it off and couldn't find replacement hi temp insulator tubing so I wrapped it tight and used some muffle repair tape.
Just had a tasty waffle covered with seasonal blackberries for breakfast.
    Thanks !!

The most common reason for not heating up is because of a blown thermal fuse. Apparently the controller lets the iron get too hot or the fuse is out of manufacturing tolerance - and so the fuse opens.
The green lamp is normally lit when the relay is off and dark when the relay is on. When cold, the relay normally turns on within a second of power-up (switched on). During power-up, the green (ready) lamp should flicker on, and then as the relay clicks, go dark. If the green (ready) lamp does not flicker, the fuse is probably blown.
The fuse is clamped inside the bottom clamshell in silicon tubing. A replacement fuse (240°C) can be purchased from many sources. The fuse should be re-attached to the wires with new all-metal crimp fasteners. You can get the crimp tool at hardware stores, Radio Shack, Lowes, etc.
If the iron is getting too hot and blowing thermal fuses, you may be able to avoid this failure by keeping the thermostat set lower.

This worked for me! $5 for the fuse, delivered. I think the "thermostat" that you mentioned setting lower is actually a timer. The thermostat is handled by electronics on the inside. I could be wrong.

If the thermal fuse blows again, try replacing it again with the correct fuse. Then leave the stainless steel cover off (i must warn against this procedure if kids are going to use it). use it until you are convinced that the problem may be fixed.
I think that the heat is building up under that steel cover causing the fuse to blow.
You can then cut/drill holes in the cover then install.

Let me know if this works for anyone else?

My waffle iron no longer heats up.just a red light

Had the same problem with the WMK300 that others are reporting. Plug it in, hear the click, red light goes on but unit does not heat up. Found the thermal fuse in the white insulation on the bottom unit. Found replacement at Radio Shack (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102788). Works great!

Unit has power light on but quit cooking waffles - not hot to touch

the heater element is not being powered....solution is to replace the thermal fuse which is in-line with the heater. the unit must be opened up, the fuse is usually hidden inside an high temperature insulating sleeve...cut the old fuse out, replace it with the same temperature rated fuse other wise, it will continue to blow fuses or the heater element may burn out completely....check the old fuse, if it says...90, then it is rated for 90 degrees celcius ,...so on..it must be replaced with the same value...you cannot solder these fuses in...they must be crimped because the heat will melt the solder connection....if you can't do it...get a pro to do it for you

No heat on brand new Waring WMK300 waffle maker

Lots of appliance makers include a 1 800 number with the paperwork that comes with an appliance.

I would try to find that number and call them. They owe you a replacement unit. If you can't find the number do a Google search for Waring and they should have a tel number and/or a "contact us" place to send and email.

Good luck Loringh

Waring Wafflemaker power light comes on but won't heat up

My just over 1-year old WWM200SA did the same thing while I was cooking with it (used it about 5 times). I found a solution under the WWM200PC thread that the thermal fuse blew early. I tested mine and that's what happened. It is a cheap part, but I called Waring Customer service (800-269-6640) instead and they said to send it in for replacement.

No heat

It will initialy take some time to heat, but if it doesnt become hot in 3min or so.. then make sure voltage is properly fed and also check for any switches or reset button. If all this doesnt work then it means the heating coil inside wud have been cut or fused.

Thankyou

Orange and green light flash

The flashing battery light is an indication that the system is attempting to charge the battery. The orange light indicates a problem charging one of the battery cells. This usually means that the battery either needs to be recalibrated or replaced. To recalibrate the battery just use the system until the battery is dead, then recharge and repeat the process twice, after which time the battery should be recalibrated. If this doesn’t fix the flashing orange light then the battery may need to be replaced.

hope this helps

WMK300 turns on but doest not heat up

the problem is an open thermal fuse. This fuse is located in the fixed grill; it is clamped to the grill and is covered by a white plastic sleeve.

The replacement part should be a 240°C/464°F 10 - 15 Amp thermal fuse. NTE sells a part NTE8242 which works available from Mouser.com for $1.41 plus shipping.
