I have an HP 4315 All-in-One that has been a great little printer for me. A few months ago I got a "scanner bulb failure" error on startup but I was able to get past it after a restart. I'm now getting the error each time I start the printer and it appears to be here to stay. Is this something I can fix myself? Is there a scanner bulb that can be replaced? The printer was inexpensive but the quality of the scans is very good and it's lightweight--all reasons for me to want to keep it going. I use the printer while traveling locally and haven't been able to find one better.
Ok try this while the printer is on pull out the power cable leave it for about 30 seconds and then plug back in also would recommend plugging directly into power socket if that does not work then your bulb is faulty it could be much cheaper buying a new one but if you want a repair you can contact HP check www.hp.com for contact number in your country and they will be able to direct you to one of there repair centre's
They do not sell the scanner bulbs individually, you will probably have to replace the entire scanning assembly, which you can buy, or take to a local repair shop. They should be able to order the scanning assembly for you.
