Input devices on vaio laptop stopped working

I'd appreciate any advice, I was typing on my vaio laptop when the keyboard stopped working completely. The mouse (both external usb and built in touchpad) also appears to have a problem, left clicking does what control+click would normally do and the wheel does not respond at all. Thanks for any help you can give.

    Hello
Thanks for your reply, I have checked all the settings and they look fine, also tried the vaio troubleshooting and it was no use - can you tell me if it's likely to be a driver problem or does the fact that both devices went wrong at the same time indicate there is a more general problem.
    Thanks again

Dear Sue_s46,

Try and double chek all settings relate to keyboard and mouse by following below steps.

go to control panle- Mouse, double check it has not changed the settings the way normally works for left-right click and wheel.

regarding keyboard, go to control panle- regional and language settings. double check all settings are fine there.

if you dont get luck with anything, you might have Sony utility relate to keyboard/mouse. you can search for that program from start menu and within all programms.

let me know, if nothing works or any other issues.

also, let me know which operating system you have on Sony Laptop?

Many Thanks.

    Hia,

have you installed recently any software or hardware? I believe you must have done this, but shut down laptop completley and dis connect all external devices and boot up and see everything works fine?

if everything is fine then I would recommend to try different external mouse/keyboard to just test. because if all settings are fine and internal keyboard/mouse not working properly then it could be hardware issue internally connection issue of keyboard/mouse connected to motherboard.

external keyboard/mouse not working properly then as i said you can test another spare mouse/keyboard and try to double check if existing ones have some fault. also you can go and download drivers for external mouse/keyboard via their manufacture website, might be there are latest up to date drivers.

also, I am sure you must have tried but try to use different USB ports. if your external mouse/keyboard are PS2 connection (Round Connector Green and Purple) then definatley its a driver issue.

Let me know which operating system you are using and external keyboard/mouse model/brand names.

    hope it works.

    Thanks.

Some letters don't work on my sony vaio

Check the keyboard. If it is defective replace it. You might want to hook up a USB keyboard to ascertain that the laptop keyboard is the one that is defective.

Dear sir/mam I have a sony vaio vgn fj270 laptop,3 days ago small amount of sprite spilled overthe key board and aome of the keys became stuck, a professional cleaned the keyboard unffortunately something...

There is not so much that could be done to repair a keyboard. Disassemble the laptop, check the ribbon cable connecting the keyboard to the motherboard. If the ribbon cable is loose, tighten it. If it is tight, replace the keyboard with a new one

My USB Ports of Sony Vaio VGN FW235 stopped working

first remove all the USB Devices connected to the Computer, go to Device Manager, uninstall all the USB Drivers and restart the Computer. after the restart, the Operating System should reinstall the USB Drivers automatically as the USB Drivers are Operating System generic.
If this does not work, go to Device Manager, right click on the USB Device having Yellow Exclamatory mark and click on Update Device/Driver and select search for the best driver in these location and in the location type C:\Windows\inf and click next.
This should resolve the issue.
If this does not work, you can try performing the System restore where the USB ports are working normally.
