I am currently using a Linksys BFR series router that works fine. I am trying to replace it with a Linksys WRT 300 N router. I go through the installation program provided by Linksys on my HP computer Vista OS that asks me to connect new router to computer and then the router to the cable modem, power it on and confirm the led lights for power, internet, wireless and the specific port that the computer is connected to are lit. So far so good. When I confirm by clicking thye Next button, it searches the network and says it cannot find the router. I tried HP network assist and it says the router is not supported.

    Have you tried switching to allow windows to manage your wireless?

Are you trying to install the router.
You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
Then you need to connect the computer to the router ad the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

the best thing to do here is have a firmware upgrade which can be downloaded from the Linksys site. Base from experience (we have been using a lot of linksys products and currently we are using an RV016), these lock-up problems are caused by firmware problems and can be solved by firmware upgrade.

The wall plug power supply is very likely your problem, it is made cheaply and of low quality with low quality capacitors inside. These fail over some time and the power supply becomes unstable and the Linksys will start to do funny stuff.

Find a better replacement power supply, I'd recommend one that has a higher current rating (2A or so)
and you will be fine.

Hi I'm using Linksys wireless router.. It was working fine foe 2 years.. Right now i'm unable to go online.. I got power and wireless light on in my linksys router..
You can try first to reset the router, by pressing the reset button for 30 seconds using a pen while power is ON then after that just run the setup CD for it to reconfigure the router and if it failed to reconfigure the router, better for you to contact Linksys tech support and have teh router replace since it has 3 year warranty, this is the number 8003267114 they are open 24/7...

Hi there,

I only have 3 suggestions.

1st one is to make sure the ssid is not similar to other routers you are using on your profile. ie.(change it to a unique name)

2nd is to make sure you check the box that says broadcast your ssid.

3rd check to make sure you select the router as an access point and not adhoc or infrastructure option. Finally you can try to change the channels eg. i like channel 3 b/c it doesnt interfere with any phone lines.
